The majority of people in charge of our education system don’t even have kids in the system… School boards are chock full of retired boomers who moved to OK after their kids were fully grown. And then there are the massive amount of religious nuts… Oklahoma does not offer education and hasn’t for decades. No one what wants to change that can get elected because of aforementioned boomers and religious zealots.

The biggest “con” to PF2 is that it is decidedly not 5e, and people expecting it to work like 5e will have a bad time. AC generally hangs within 1 or 2 points for the entire party at a specific level, same for enemies. It is rarely a good idea to just walk up to the enemy and face tank them. Moving around is big for survivability. Synergy with other party members can be huge too. Sometimes that thing you can do doesn’t sound like a big buff or debuff, but if several party members are doing complementary buffs/debuffs it can turn the tide.

The amount of work I was spending to fight the recurring bloat of shit in Windows 10 was eating away at me for years… I had the OS drive in my computer die a little over 2 years ago, so I was having to re-install windows from scratch on a new drive, and going through the install process, see skype and one-drive horse-shit popping up - disabling both, running updates, and they pop back up again… It just killed my spirit. I went distro searching that same day. My laptop followed suit about 6 months later. I never even bothered to finish setting up windows. I left the drive in there with dual-boot options for maybe 3 months before I just re-formatted it to BTRFS for more storage space in Linux.
MS will be very hard pressed to win me back.
Oh yea, the updates really suck honestly. I swear every time it updates I feel like it loses functionality that I loved.
I love my smartwatch, it usually holds charge for an entire day even with the screen on all the time. I think they stopped making them though, it is a Fossil smartwatch. I also like that it just looks like a normal watch at first glance.
By contrast, I have bought a tablet twice thinking I would love to have one, and then NEVER know what the hell to do with it. My phone is easier to carry around. :/
I really liked kDrive for the last couple of years, but their linux client is an appimage, which I have not had the best luck with unfortunately. Been considering looking for hosted nextcloud as an alternative, because I know that client works. I really wish I could just use nextcloud to connect to my kDrive, since their service is apparently based on nextcloud.
Their number also makes no sense if you look at the previous figure “Over 188 million people in the United States use a subscription video streaming service”. Average of 10 bucks a month makes 1.8 billion revenue per month, which means the bring in roughly 21.6 billion per year in revenue… Are they suggesting that MORE people choose piracy over streaming services? That feels like a ludicrous claim. More likely they are estimating the number of “illegal downloads” and assigning the price to buy a digital copy instead… Like if piracy was impossible the people that do it would be buying digital copies instead of signing up for streaming services.
And that is all before you look at your point, that a vast majority of the “illegal downloads” they are likely claiming would have never been sales, they would have just been people that never consumed their media.
Honestly, never trust a company replacing C’s with K’s, especially if it contains alliteration. They will shy away from adding the 3rd K too publicly, but they know what it means.

This honestly feels like an “everyone sucks here” situation. It’s obviously bad that the publisher just sacked the 3 founders of a developer and replaced them with a CEO from a developer they just scuttled… But then there is this terrible sell-out deal the devs went for where 1/3 of the sale price of the company was tied up in sales performance with the deadline rapidly approaching so of course they want to put out a shiny new title for people to buy even though they keep having to cut the planned content down to almost nothing. (supposedly, obvi I haven’t played it…)
AND THEN there is what I am calling Schrodinger’s Beta. It is supposedly right now ready for early access release (which means Krafton delaying the game is proof of being shady and avoiding the bonus), but also likely going to flop because they got rid of the founders and now they won’t have the devs to make it any good (making Krafton correct in delaying the EA because it isn’t ready yet…).
This whole thing is a mess of pointing fingers and no one knows what’s real. Truth of the matter is probably that both sides are right. Dev’s want to push the game out to get the rest of what they feel they are owed, whether the game is ready for EA be damned. Publisher wants to not pay for any of that, downsize the dev team to finish production as cheap as possible just to drop a steaming turd with just enough name recognition to keep their line going up, but not to make enough money they can’t plausible deniability sink another developer. I hope I’m wrong, because I was looking forward to Subnautica 2 (mostly just to have a multiplayer subnautica experience), but the industry has mostly convinced me to assume the worst in everyone.
