It’s also a very expensive habit. That model can cost $500 for just one vape.

These companies already made it obvious that information is something they want to control. They add their filters, that are enforced and decided by them. They are buying and destroying books to gather information and eliminate the chances for competitors to gather. They are hoovering up all the information they can and can manipulate it however they want.
The game right now is to be the AI option with the most stolen information and curated how the investors want it to be.
It’s kind of like “To Catch a Predator” because their is justice.
Unfortunately the executives you’d pitch this to are also the targets of the show. But I guess they greenlight “To Catch a Predator” and were mostly child predators.
Changes it from a party blower to a colostomy bag.
Mental health issues suck because you’re better off not telling people what you have. Very close friends, some family, and your medical professionals are maybe ok, but everyone else is just a risk not worth taking.
If you had some physical alignment people are more accepting and compassionate. If you have schizophrenia, people will fear you. If you’re bipolar, people will question and misjudge your actions. If you have anxiety disorder, people will think your overreacting. If you have clinical depression, people will tell you to just get over it.
You become “that person” and are no longer a person. Which is counter to why you take medicine and try to be stable.
Isn’t Craigslist still alive but barely kicking? Some wild and very overt things in the missed connections section.

Still alive and horny

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•A good reminder that it can always get worse
4·7 days agoThey are good. The illustration style that was dominated by these Memphis people for areas that still need some illustrative “fun” has shifted to gradients and more color. The roots of simplistic illustration are still there, just improved.
This too will get stale. Design trends used to last close to a decade, than down to 5 years around the 2000s. Now it’s more like maybe 2 years before everyone gets bored. That’s only going to accelerate.
But as the cycle goes around and around, it always seems to comeback to swiss design. Modified of course, but the base DNA is always there because it’s what all us designers had beaten into us as visual communicators.
All this Memphis, flat design, geometric bullshit is dressing on that basis that still works. Because at the Bauhaus school they looked closely at the psychology of visual communication and recorded what works and why to be an authority on the subject.
At the end of the day, a design is a failure if it doesn’t communicate to the viewer. Everything else consumers see are distractions marketing VPs and CEOs feel like they need because they “paid good money for something NEW”.
Just like my father did and his father before him. AI can’t replace traditions.
Did you get pregnant?
j/k
Seriously though, great job!

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•A good reminder that it can always get worse
6·7 days agoFor an example of what these illustrations evolved into look at Firefox.com. But overall they have died not because of AI Slop, but because they got stale and any hangover over the last couple years was from “pre-built” templates.
From personal experience I’d see it in PowerPoints, business to business (B2B) marketing, and a lot of SaS or digital tech products.
A lot of companies in those spaces went abstract or geometric and phased stock photos of people laughing at nothing back into their marketing.
The stock images of people is what these Memphis stick figures replaced because it was easier to spin things up quickly without agonizing over getting photographic diversity, which was kind of a driver at the time.
It’s my job to keep an eye on trends.

19·7 days agoIn both cases their are shared maintenance expenses for the allotment. Like roads, drainage, and other things taxes would pay for but they cut themselves off from city by allowing an HOA.
Shitty that they even exist and anyone thinks it’s a good idea to trust unqualified people to manage projects they have no experience in usually. All a scam to let the developers cut costs and pass it onto the residents.
Now most of these HOAs are managed by older residents and most of them have a “I’m gonna die, why should I care” attitude about future planning.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•AI Is Creating “Doom Loops” All Over the Economy: The AI industry is destroying its own incentive structure.
16·7 days agothe AI industry is trapping itself in a doom loop of its own creation, a cynical strategy that won’t benefit anybody but those at the very top who kicked the ladder down behind them.
That is a great way to sum it up.
Also the article highlights a problem I’ve been preaching. Everyone is complacent to use AI now, but the longer this goes on the less input it has to feed from.
I like the unique and raw creations that humans make. I don’t like formulaic pop music, writing, or art. There is beauty in our imperfections or raw expressions that will keep their meaning, but become increasingly rare because it’s not rewarding or pays well.

What I ask them to do does not take significant processing power. I need you to set a 5min timer. Not talk to me like you’re alive. Don’t overthink things, just do simple things.
All that extra banter they added in eats up processing power. So now it’s slower and works like shit because it’s formulating some complex response to my request to beep in 5 minutes. Just set the timer, my hands are covered in raw chicken juice.
