Yes, McConnell was a big factor, but Democrats went along with him, and that was probably NIMBY-related https://www.npr.org/2009/05/20/104334339/democrats-block-funding-to-close-guantanamo
WELNA: Like Majority Leader Reid, Indiana Democrat Evan Bayh is up for reelection next year. He, too, opposes sending Guantanamo detainees to the U.S.
EVAN BAYH: We have a supermax facility in Terre Haute, Indiana. I don’t think the citizens of my state would look too kindly on having those folks housed in our state.

I took the same thing from this article as you. This is part of why Guantanamo Bay never closed; there was no place where the detainees’ presence was tolerated. People don’t want the object of their fear in their backyard. They want it as far away as possible. This is also why the six extermination camps like Auschwitz were not on German soil. Not in Germans’ backyard.

It has had trouble with some subtitles. That’s the biggest issue I’ve had
It is a little convoluted how it’s set up, but I have a debt of gratitude to the Calibre community for their various add-ons freeing my legally purchased books of their DRM! Which is what enabled me to have centralized library in the first place, since they were all on different services. But now I’ve quit Amazon and have everything accessible from KOreader on my Kobo, via Calibre-web

It’s handy to share media with my family! The Roku app works OK
I ate a lot of good food when I visited the UK. Honestly anyone who claims <place> has only bad food has a skill issue.

Stuff like this is why I unsubscribed. Just respectability politics.

It was fascism in 2016 when he promised to ban people from entering the US based on religion.

The subs model ensures regular and predicable quarterly revenue, which means easier forecasting of growth, which means happier shareholders.
Might depend on your graphics card setup. My work laptop has pretty underpowered integrated graphics
Video effects randomly stop working sometimes, and frequently has choppy video
I posted this a year or two ago and got hit by a huge wave of furious Brave users lol. Occasionally to this day someone will stumble on it and post some tirade

The secret is that being evil makes life pretty easy, compared to actually trying to contribute to the world. Being a ruthless and shameless thief, plus a lot of luck, has allowed him to gather absurd quantities of wealth. There’s no talent needed in this screwed up system

IIRC there is a whole industry that builds them custom, often out of fiberglass

Palo Alto has finally started to crack down on this nonsense. It’s been a wealthy area for decades, but the behavior of these ultra rich freaks is hard for anyone to tolerate.

Unlike Coca-cola, these traffickers reuse their containers

I would recommend playing a mediocre game you don’t intend to replay. If you’re anything like me, I associate movies and games with the feeling of sickness I felt watching it. So Shadow of the Colossus, for some reason, is strongly associated with the feeling I had being home sick playing it as a teenager. I still replay it but have that kind of aftertaste of the memory lol. I similarly associate the movie Dark City with having chicken pox!
It’s just a bad fuel in every way. This administration is trying to coerce us to use it
