Always love a George Carlin quote. He’d be on another level of rage if he were still alive.

The Gateway Arch National Park in St. Louis was also a black community that got bulldozed. Unsurprisingly common

Programming@programming.dev•How useful are functional programming languages?
6·2 months agoNot at all. Plenty of functional services run at scale at multinational companies. I personally prefer them over OOP.
What’s so special about database access? You pull data out. You transform it. You put data in. It’s just functions all the way down!

News@lemmy.world•"Those rights don't count": Bovino says Pretti forfeited 2nd Amendment rights in fatal shooting
290·2 months ago“You cannot bring a firearm, loaded, with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want. It’s that simple. You don’t have that right to break the law and incite violence,” Kash Patel said. Like Kyle Rittenhouse? Or all the other cosplaying Meal Team Six smooth brains that like to counterprotest? Cool, cool, cool
iirc the senate introduced a dress code because of his hoodies. It’s probably just that given the locations in the photos

News@lemmy.world•Jeffrey Epstein Was The Unofficial Advice Columnist For The Elites
35·5 months agoWow. One person wrote, “Jeffrey, I was prepared to vote against Trump for all the right reasons but I’m so disgusted by the outrage over ‘grab them by the pussy’ that I may give him my sympathy vote.” I don’t even know how to make sense of that! What?
Is this at the escalators after you get off the tram to leave the terminal? In my experience the door to these stairs is overlooked. Most everyone scrambles to queue up for the escalators and you can just walk up and out easily.

politics @lemmy.world•More Texas Democrats plan to spend the night in the state Capitol in protest amid redistricting fight
662·8 months agoThis is so ridiculous. Why did you go back? It’s performative at this point. They’ll pass the legislation. The difficult thing to do was staying away for ~100 days and you couldn’t do it. This is just nothing.

politics @lemmy.world•Texas Rep. Nicole Collier remains on House floor after refusing law enforcement escort
111·8 months agoI hope to hear more of an uproar against these dipshits, patting themselves on the back for having raised attention to the issue instead of holding out. You gave up. The redistricting will pass once it goes up for the vote. You jackasses need to do more than raise attention under the current climate.

0·10 months agoI got some Spring of last year! I have ‘em outside. Not terribly impressive but a fun novelty.
Mammut is top notch. I love their gear. I never see them in the US.

A great option for some that’s worth communicating. That’s how I charge mine. Only once or twice in the last couple of years has it given me anxiety—which turned out to be unfounded. Not a heavy driver though, I don’t plug it in every day, and my range is nearly 300 miles.
