Mobile homes and manufactured homes (depends what kind) don’t appreciate in value in the same way conventional construction homes do. They act more like cars and trucks in a purely financial sense, in that they lose value pretty rapidly.

Home ownership is one of the last remaining vehicles of generational wealth available to most people. There is indeed prejudice around living in a “trailer”, but many more would do so if they acted more like other real estate in a financial sense.

There are other issues too, like lack of repairability, having to get custom-fitted appliances/HVAC and the overall lack of durability. I definitely understand the appeal for those who can’t afford something else, but categorically they are temporary housing and will be very expensive to maintain in the long run without any of the added financial benefits that come with owning a conventional home. And that’s not even covering the topic of lot rent.

It would basically be looking for the worst-of-the-worst highly illegal “you know it when you see it” type content and making sure it never reaches your storage or the instance. There would of course be the occasional false positives and things that slip through, which would have to be reported and dealt with on a case by case basis. That is just one way to do it though.

If you’re otherwise tech savvy, the legal ramifications (and preventing them) are probably the biggest headache. It depends on where you are, but where I’m at, the owner of the server is responsible for everything on it.

There likely are tools which scan for naughty stuff and remove it, then IP-ban the uploader, but I don’t know the specifics.

I can carry a basic conversation - certainly enough to get by and be understood. Last time I went to Quebec though, most locals were like “hell naw” and assumed I couldn’t. Here’s the thing though: this was without hearing me speak a single word. They had an uncanny ability to just guess my primary language by appearance alone. I’m guessing they could tell I was American, maybe based on subtle mannerisms.

This is in Montreal, btw, where French and English seem to coexist as two primary languages. I did spend some time around the Mont Mégantic valley area, though. (A super rural area between the border and the cities, basically farm country vibes). There, I encountered people in the tiny village markets and service stations whose English was definitely worse than my French. I was able to get some practice in with them, but I could tell they didn’t necessarily like it much, haha!

Cannabis is the only caveat there because the nics check is federal, and medical cannabis programs are all at the state level. Cannabis is still illegal at the federal level, so the feds don’t distinguish who is a “legal” cannabis user and who is not. They do not even distinguish who is an “addict” and who is not, when it comes to cannabis.
