A new report from veteran media reporter Oliver Darcy suggests that the pending Skydance-Paramount merger could spell trouble for two of Donald Trump’s most high-profile comedic critics: Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.
Responsible for perpetuating a political philosophy that’s influenced a generation of smug know-nothing neoliberal trash that’s done nothing but continue the US down a trajectory of stagnation and will help usher in a century of humiliation and genocide.
Probably would’ve been a good idea. Posting anything that goes against the accepted narrative gets your commented removed around here I guess. Oh well.
I’d like to hear how you define being uncivil. You allowed plenty of people to pile on me and only deleted my comments where I defended myself. Making it even easier for people to continue flaming me. If that isn’t influencing the narrative I don’t know what is.
Thanks for deleting that one I guess…can I continue defending myself from the ones you didn’t delete? I promise I won’t call anyone an asshole again. Even if they deserve it.
Stwert, at least, has been pretty hard on establishment democrats, especially recently, though this has always been the case to an extent. I think you have an opinion that is based on a perception that isn’t totally accurate.
If they’re really canceling the shows for political reasons, that’s bad. Personally I think it’s because cable TV is pretty much dead. All these networks are circling the drain at this point. More and more shows are getting canceled regardless of politics.
I haven’t watched Colbert in a long time, just didn’t much care for The Late Show being a more generic talk show. But I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how good The Daily Show still is with Stewart’s return and the rest of the team, they’ve still got it.
Anytime I’ve watched Colbert’s show it’s clear that he is an egotistical holier than thou dude who doesn’t respect most of his guests. He doesn’t interview well.
On top of that, the format of nightly talk show means he’s always making the same or similar jokes, and always harping on the same things. It’s tiresome, even if I agree with a lot of it.
There’s nothing nuanced about your accusation. It’s overly generalized at best and inflammatory at worst. Either way, that’s the opposite of nuanced. Wouldn’t getting comfortable with that be a bad thing from your perspective? If I were to do that based on your suggestion, then you’d be responsible for making me a MAGA person. If you really wanted to take a nuanced position, you’d realize that some people view these comedians as having right-wing imperialistic views that enable genocide and manufacture content for the American empire of death.
If being accused of being associated with hate group makes me “triggered,” guilty as charged I guess. Uh, should I report this one too @Skavau@piefed.social? At this point I feel bad for dragging you into this in the first place. I didn’t realize this would stir up such a shitstorm. I’ll be sure to double check the instance of the post before commenting next time lol.
Can’t believe anyone still takes these guys seriously. Good riddance.
Can you list even one legitimate reason why they shouldn’t be taken seriously?

You could have saved your time and just answered “no”

No, it’s the being uncivil about it. I didn’t delete your other posts.

I’ve deleted one of the posts made to you that was provoking as well, if you look at the thread.

These robots are beyond help.
Mark their names.
What’s more robotic? Thinking for yourself or just going along with the generally accepted opinion?

Was I supposed to be taking comedians seriously?
Apparently Trump takes them seriously and sees them as a threat. Or maybe they just hurt his feelings.
I don’t think you were, no. I hope you didn’t. I know I didn’t, but it seems like a lot of people do. I hope they stop soon.
Do you hope Trump stops taking them seriously, or do you hope people stop taking the freedom of speech of comedians seriously?

Not everyone who disagrees with you is MAGA.

Your suggestion is unfounded and inflammatory. So that would lead me to believe you do think that way.

No, I don’t understand. You’re just confirming my original suggestion. All I did was disagree with you. Which makes me seem like a MAGA person to you.

I can’t believe you got piled on like that. I’m not an American but I occasionally watch clips from both of these people.
Colbert has gotten unfunny with same jokes again and again. And Stewart is enlightened centrist who spent more time blasting Biden than Trump.
