Edit to add my opinion so I’m not just replying “I agree” to 90% of comments. I think it should be legal, properly regulated, taxed and viewed as a profession. I haven’t personally engaged in it but I have no moral objection to it. I do hate the common sentiment that it was the individual’s “only option” though.

Easy, I can see that it is generally less bad when legal and regulated but there is still no ethical consumption under capitalism
I feel like poking a hornet’s nest today. Do you think animal farming should be legal? No ethical consumption under capitalism, right?
Not quite sure what your point is, ethical != legal
I think the government should ban animal agriculture except the most vital medical and scientific uses. Customers should need to prove they have a serious medical disorder that can only be treated with meat in order to buy it. It should be regulated very tightly, the same as medical amphetamines. That’s how we reduce the harm suffered by the animals.
Not sure about total banning of it, sheep are showing to be pretty good at cutting the grass around solar panels and you get a better grass yield than you would if you didn’t have a solar panel there. They also do it for free.
Wouldn’t have a problem with a significant reduction though.
