Good. As long as it leads to repealing Citizens United and further finance reform so corporations aren’t calling the shots. Politicians are afraid to say no to corps because they need the funding to stay in office.
But 44% of independents lean Democrat and 33% who lean Repub, which is reflected in their voting. I only registered Democrat myself so I could vote in the primaries.

No they don’t. They love you to believe the opposition party - which they control - is a desirable alternative to the incumbents, because this allows them to impose discipline over both party organs.
The real problem is that capitalism is unstable/unsustainable. Liberals maintain it. Conservatives use its instability to enrich themselves at everyone else’s expense.
