If you’ve never played, Mario Maker allows people to place comments directly into levels. Due to its very limited abilities, the vast majority of comments you’ll see tend to be random scribbles or a few words, but there are some who are drawn to (pun-intended) actually sitting down and working within its constraints. Something about heavy limitations, and spur of the moment inspiration while in a stage, gives me desire to actually draw when I otherwise wouldn’t.
The story for this one is pretty wholesome, and all starts from a comment I received. I hadn’t opened the game in months, but a few days ago someone by the name of Alastor simply said “Ur an amazing artist!” on one of my levels I commented art on:
When I went to their profile, they seemed like a younger person who also made a lot of level art, and some art comments of their own too. They had a few recent levels dedicated to Hazbin Hotel, so I decided to look up the cast and see if I could give them a nice surprise for whenever they log in next. I settled on Niffty because she seemed to fit the MM2 pallette the best, and also was one of the main characters not drawn yet. Hopefully Alastor gets some joy from it, and maybe that you do too!
