The base is dovetailed at the corners and the uprights are lapped in. I have to complicate everything.

    I didn’t know there was such a thing. I’ll check it out next time I’m at the hardware store.
    I really should round over the tops of the uprights so they don’t absorb as much rain, but sealer would definitely help.

      Or just put a metal jar lit or something on it? Have seen this done on fence posts, which of course better fit the shape.
