They are leaving a lot to the imagination here! If a person had logs stacked in the right way, it isn’t outside of reality to cut them to an appropriate length in an hour and have enough wood for one winter that still needs split. And stacked, if you’re into that. I have done 11 cords of wood in two days (with three total people) from beginning to end. Not easy work 🥵 Loud, uncomfortable, dangerous.
So, I think your mention of the Caribbean is pretty on point! Most folks wouldn’t find it worth it, but chainsaws were a game changer and maybe it seemed realistic to people then.
Birch forest? Some top handle saws can really rip.
