Damn, what an episode. With such a masterful storytelling this anime is entering a 10/10 zone for me.
Making Hikaru and Yoshiki’s voice actors sing the choir song instead of the usual ED, since the boys ditched the performance, was such a nice detail. Hoping to get both versions when the OST is out.
I think this is the first time we got to hear the song in its entirety as well. We’ve been getting pieces of it as the performance was honed by the students, building into the full performance just as Yoshiki’s inner turmoil reached a boiling point last episode when he found out about (confirmed?) the murders. The full performance (and the lyrics) coincided with the Yoshiki finally moving forward, first by going through with his plan and then by making the decision to fully accept not-hikaru for better or worse.
This was a huge turning point in the show and it was masterfully executed, this show has been a standout in a season of standouts.
