People not living in Bucharest might not be familiar with this, but STB, the local public transit authority, is still operating Tatra T4R trams from the 1950s. They’re being gradually phased out as we speak, as they’re replacing them with newer, longer, more accessible and more energy efficient vehicles, with modern amenities such as onboard LCD displays, USB plugs or AC.

They salvaged 3 of them from scrap and restored them as much as they could (or wanted, tbh) with their original colors. If you’re visiting the city this weekend, you may see them as part of the European Mobility Week events on some dedicated lines (see them&the full schedule here). They’re on the route with both coupled (2 of them) and individual (single car) configurations. Really looking forward to seeing them and even having them exposed in a future public transit museum.
