Donate to Lemmy (or Piefed) development directly, then your home instance. If you’ve still got some cash burning a hole in your pocket, donating to instances that host communities you particularly care about is also something you can do
In order of percentage time spent
Streaming service (probably about half the time), Radio (maybe about 20%), Vinyl (say 15%), legal downloads and dubious legality via Plex (about equally 5%)
Some of what I listen to is kinda niche I guess, so I like to support the artist with a purchase (vinyl or Bandcamp download) where I can
Edit: typo

As if the average American is throwing away nearly enough calories for the average person to live comfortably on
Did you guys not get the “starving children in Africa” and “eyes bigger than your belly” stuff from your parents?
I mean, if you’re an arch user you probably should get it, given it’s kinda the same train if thought that brings most arch users to choose that.
The point is being a barebones system you can do what you want on top of, it tries to avoid making any choice for you.
I’ve kinda often thought of it as the step between LFS and Gentoo/Arch for users who want the most control over their system.

There are plenty of hobbies where you can happily enjoy it and only ever spend little if anything.
On the other hand, I’ve found it’s pretty uncommon to find a hobby where you can’t optionally fall down an expensive rabbit-hole of some kind, usually around any kind of equipment or tools you might need as part of some hobby.
Thankfully for most hobbies that kind of thing is not required to enjoy it. You don’t need a fancy guitar to enjoy playing; you can read books from the library, you don’t need to collect your own; in most big enough cities (in Europe at least) you don’t even need to own a bike to go for a cycle (though regularly using bike rental schemes might be a sign to try and get a bike, doesn’t need to be fancy)

Isn’t this meme the wrong way round?
Joseph Gordon Levitt’s character is the charlatan in the film

Lol is that the real logo? So terminally cringe
I wonder how it stacks up versus those waymo cars because I would not be surprised if the Tesla ones probably also perform worse when stacked up against competitors

They broadcasted current events during a current events show
… That’s awful, does it work?
Edit: I guess it would need a semicolon or another pipe in the alias
Cat into grep lets you insert something between the file read and grep if you need to without having to reorder anything

If you can get them.
I’m lucky to live somewhere where I have a selection of supermarkets that I can walk to which all stock fresh foods for reasonable prices, sounds like you’re in a similar situation.
In America they have loads of these “food deserts” (old article now, but it’s gotten worse) where the only place you can buy food without having to drive an hour, is a Dollar General store that only sells shelf stable, processed rubbish. There’s no amount of money you can spend in those towns to get anything fresh, not that the residents typically have much to spend anyway.
Those residents also can’t often afford to live anywhere else, or they’d have already moved; so they’re kinda of stuck in a situation that’ll make their lives worse with very little they can do to remediate it themselves.
Just replied to the other comment
This one is probably my favourite

Great views up at the top of the tower
I was lucky(?) enough that the volcano was going off whilst I was up there a couple of years ago and got some great pictures

I was gonna say it was whisky in my house
My Scottish father being completely unrelated to the matter

I didn’t know being designed for screen rather than print was woke now
This list is getting long
I mean, you could attach a pi (and a Kafkaesque combination of USB hubs and adapters) to run a ramdisk make a sort of scratch disk ChristNAS

The chances of a true philanthropist beating out the psychopaths currently at the top of the chain, is basically nil. They will always fight dirtier.
You need to ensure a government can exert power over the largest organisations in its country. If that ever becomes an issue, the organisation might start behaving as a de facto government of its own and start treating the actual government as a vassal.
Basically we need to kick corporatist politicians out of our governments before they finish rolling out the red carpet for the end of democracy, and start chopping up and/or nationalising these proto-megacorps. If only a few control the tools that put us all out of work, we’re not getting anything close to utopia.
Well maybe you shouldn’t be trying to do DTP in a word processor
