1·19 hours agoDo you have more info on how the company is structured? Everything I can find on their site just says it’s “employee-owned”, but I don’t know what that means.

Genuine question, what negative effects are corps having on the Linux ecosystem? I’ve also been daily driving Linux for over a decade and it honestly feels pretty similar now to how it did 10 years ago.

Technology@lemmy.world•Wikipedia’s Pyrrhic VictoryEnglish
20·7 days agoJust quickly skimming the article you linked, I’m not seeing evidence that wikipedia is “shit”, just that there have been many attempts by governments and other powerful people to influence its content, which shouldn’t be surprising to anyone given how popular it is. Are there examples you could point to of those attempts being successful? (Including particular examples you want to highlight in that article; again I only skimmed it on a small screen.)
It also seems strange to link to a wikipedia article to support the claim that wikipedia is shit.

2·25 days agoHow does the topic consolidation work, exactly? Does it only consolidate cross-posts, or does it also consolidate all posts from communities that have exactly the same name? The only documentation I can find is at https://join.piefed.social/features/ which just says:
Consolidated Comments – View all comments from multiple related posts on one page (example).

FWIW, I’m looking at ivpn as a potential replacement for mullvad. Haven’t done thorough research on the company yet but I’m impressed by their website.
Airvpn also seems good, but the people running it are much more anonymous so it feels more difficult (for me) to trust them. But if they’re really privacy activists then it’s understandable.
