AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How long have you been journaling for?1·2 days agoI have been journaling since 2019. It was born out of the need to manage my tasks and thoughts at work. But then it was helpful enough to start doing it for all the aspects of my life.
Started out with a simple notepad lying around at my office. Moved to Obsidian and now Emacs’ Org-Mode.
But I still use a nice notebook for journaling when I am not around my machine or when I want to jot something urgently. I digitise it later, if necessary.
In fact, I prefer using pen and paper over my machine (which has a very, very comfortable and enjoyable keyboard), as I find it more personal, private and deliberate.
Regardless of whether it is truly superior (it isn’t, but neither is Cursor, if you think about it), it is actually more tedious to “cut and paste” the “source code file” and then paste back the output.
It is far simpler to just initiate a chat within Cursor, allowing it to identify all the files necessary for context alongside the one being viewed.
Is spoopy a typo or a slang people use? So spooky that it made one poop(y)?
AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.worldto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: If you set up a Lemmy instance, and follow the Docker setup instructions to the letter, it will send lemmy.ml your admin password during the setup process (Edit: Not anymore, it’s fixed now)1261·4 days agoThank you for discovering this, and creating awareness around it.
Seems like a genuine miss, contrary to what the comments here would have one believe, given that the compose file (and rest of the docs) were mostly derived from whatever worked for the developers themselves.
AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•I am working on a turn-based wargame, influenced by the old Win3.x era WinWar 2 gameEnglish9·4 days agoI had to read more than once to realise it is not a game about WinRAR.
Having said that, all the best with the development, and may the game find love and success. :-)
Perhaps they aren’t crying over their mistake, and don’t like children in general?
AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you like the centralized web of today?4·5 days agoI don’t know how you arrived at this based on what @TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.ca was saying.
Connection strength is a network/infrastructure problem while what was being said in the original comment is an application/usage one.
The other part of your statement can be solved using a search engine which restricts itself to just searches and not distract itself with ads and AI. But evidently such a product is hard to build in today’s world.
A perfect origin story of a villain.
Jeremy then goes on a crime spree, but he was caught early on because he is a snail… with a left-coiled shell. The shell prints at the crime scenes helped narrow it down to him instantly.
Vim was my primary tool of development for over a decade, and I used Obsidian for about 3 years. However, in early 2024, I tried out Emacs and never looked back.
I find it functionally equivalent to Vim albeit perceivably slower, and Org-mode (+Denote) is far superior than Markdown and Obsidian with its slew of plugins.
Migrating my 3 years worth of notes was a pain since I was using Obsidian’s variant of Markdown syntax to link other notes. In the end I gave up trying to convert those notes, and used them alongside my new Org-mode notes, thanks to Denote’s interoperability.
In fact, Denote’s naming philosophy is so powerful yet simple that I started using it for all documents and downloads.

AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.worldto ADHD memes@lemmy.dbzer0.com•How it feels inside my head. Art by mariajesuscontrerasEnglish4·8 days agoExcellent sleuthing.
The art did come off as being AI assisted, if not generated. But I did not want to discredit the art by saying it outright. The weird placement of the cabinet and distorted perspective of the entire art was what led me to suspect.
AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.worldto ADHD memes@lemmy.dbzer0.com•How it feels inside my head. Art by mariajesuscontrerasEnglish9·8 days agoIt does feel like I am being run by amphibians, neither here nor there.
Also, why is the blue telephone cord stretching away from the telephone? Is the cord for a different telephone not shown in the art, and the telephone in the art just happens to have its handset on the ground or outside the frame?
AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What computer life hacks are your most used?8·10 days agoSafe: Use text expansion for trivial yet long texts like your emails, addresses, etc. to almost eliminate errors in those texts. Espanso is something I use on Linux Mint, while macOS supports text expansion natively. I am yet to find something that fills the gap on NetBSD, but I almost exclusively use emacs on those machines, which has native support for snippets.
Unsafe: Remove USB drive without ejecting it. :P
Contrived yet neat: With special software (BetterTouchTool on macOS) or keyboard firmware (QMK and ZMK, which is what I use), one can use Spacebar as a layer key (SpaceFn, as it makes Spacebar behave as a Fn key) to unlock neat shortcuts like navigating using HJKL, add macros, remap hard to reach keys on to the home row, etc. There are other things that can be done such as one-shot modifiers which make typing less straining.
P.S. The snark in the comments here is surprising. Everyone starts somewhere. Let us be welcoming.
AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Man, I hate it when this happens!1·10 days agoOh. I only feel enlightened about anus.
I am clueless as to what it is doing in a medieval combat manual.
The most I can rationalise is that the author had a bout of frustration, and the manual was the only outlet for their thoughts.

AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Man, I hate it when this happens!3·11 days agoI zoomed in on the picture, and the first thing I see is the word “anus”.
I could be misreading it, but what other letter could it possibly be.
What a weird thing to argue.
It doesn’t matter whether the list is part of the video or whether it was created by PewDiePie.
The list, in the screenshot of OP, is garbage.
Besides, the same screenshot is of a video that shows the list along with the name of the channel and the video title (which correlates with other news of the creator releasing an anti-Google video). So the list, for all purposes of this discussion, is part of the video.
Doesn’t matter if it is his list nor did I ever say it was garbage because it is his.
It is garbage, objectively.
Pardon my denseness, but is this sarcasm? Since that is a TeX snippet.
Why would a RegEx start with a
