Taking her gift out of the freezer a few minutes before she unwrapped it must have clued her. She just pretends to be surprised.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•It's been a while, which Lemmy instances should I be on?Français
92·12 days agoPersonally, communists don’t bother me. Transphobic developers, however, don’t make me want to use their software.

6·12 days agoooh is there a list of piefed instances from most popular to most endorsements?
There’s a built-in instance list on piefed when you click on “register”. It’s sorted by server speed. The most popular must be piefed.social.
And specifically ones that tailor to solarpunk/anarchism/lgbtq+?
In reverse order, piefed.blahaj.zone for a lgbtq+ instance, and anarchist.nexus as well as quokk.au for anarchist ones. @povoq@slrpnk.net mentioned the possibility of a solarpunk piefed instance in the past, but it’s yet to become something concrete.
i wonder why everyone shifted to piefed? is it because one of the lemmy devs had a controversial past?
I think it’s half because piefed has more features, develops faster than lemmy, and half because the lemmy devs are pricks (one being a transphobe, and the other not being all that bothered by it).
I’m fine with awareness, it genuinely made me a better person than I was over time. What’s eating me is powerlessness. There’s so much to do, nobody wants to organize, and I lack the kind of wealth, connections, and skills that would make my little person influential enough alone…
It’s extremely rare for a piece of fiction, whatever the medium, to make me feel strong emotions, but I had a lump in the throat for the whole last part of Omori. And listening to “Duet” makes my eyes sweaty without fail.

2·1 month agoHe had been arrested by the time I came back with my grocery bags. He was the “get out of my lawn” kind of guy, who could pick a fight for the most benign reason. Last I heard of him was when his nephew emptied his house some years later. He’d been placed in a psychiatric ward.

75·1 month agoBack when I was 17, I had a neighbor pull a gun right to my forehead. I shoved him away and said, in essence, “yeah, fuck you with your BB gun, I have some shopping to do”. He shot another neighbor in the gut not long after. I avoided death by dumbfounding him in a way that sound like it comes right out a daydreaming teenage fantasy.
Looking at this more benevolently, the teacher might be wishing that this kid’s generation will end up being more conscious and willing to act than his own.
That reminds me I should probably move The Demon-Haunted World to the top of the pile… Again…
If they survive my cats, rather than kicking them out, I catch and dispatch them inside the house. They more than deserve it.

5·2 months agoIf they ever want to go the comics’ way, there’s already a bunch of characters able to dance the mutually destructive tango with Homelander. Adding Marie to the mix would be superfluous. If I had to guess, her power-up makes me think she will end up crossing path with Butcher.

World of JRPGs@lemmy.zip•What JRPGs will you be playing in October? What games did you finish in September?English
2·2 months agoI’ve been tempted by Daybreak, but I’m still not sure if I want to resume playing Trails. There’s some building blocks that soured me heavily on the series (still, it’s less categorical than the “screw this” from some years ago.)
I stopped at the end of CS3, which was something of a last chance after being disappointed by CS2 and Azure (I’m ready to be crucified 😝). Didn’t even watch the credits, that cliffhanger ending felt like one slap too many…

3·2 months agoThey don’t have any JRPG franchise that they are making these days, right?
Currently they only have Monster Hunter Stories, whose third episode will come out next year.

3·2 months agoI’ll keep playing Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, which I didn’t expect to enjoy so much. I’ve gotten older since I played Sky FC in 2012, my tastes have changed, and I gave up on this series with Cold Steel. And yet, the character writing makes them as vivid as they were so many years ago, the same goes for the world in which they evolve. I guess it’s Falcom that lost something along the way in that regard.
But if there is one thing Falcom hasn’t lost, it’s their ability to make enjoyable combat systems. The action part works well enough to be enjoyable, as expected from the makers of Ys, and does not overshadow the turn-based part, which offers a good challenge even on normal difficulty. I like having to think about what tools I have at hand and adjust my build accordingly for the more difficult fights.
Yes, I heard somewhere that the name was already registered in Spain. And maybe also in Poland, but I’m less confident about this one.

I think China good for having put a stop to the production and investigating the maker, but to each their own I guess 🤨
