I think twitch drives this a lot. Streamers getting annoyed with the game they’re playing tend to do better on their vods and bring in more people. As a result, people become more and more tolerant to games that are just annoying.

“getting things done”

One thing I love about my current position. I’m the guy that gets shit done, “does more work for the same pay” as you put it. But, thankfully, if I’m just not feeling it that day I just don’t, and I get no backlash. I just move slower, people see it and offer me help more than on days when I’m cruising by. No one ever asks me to do any extra work because “he’s probably already busy getting shit done”

I sympathize a lot with the song “Mr. Popular” by Double A-Ron. I had almost no friends my first two years, then suddenly half the school knew me my last two years. I still didn’t get invited to anything very often, and when I did no one actually wanted to interact with me. But people knew/thought that I was popular because tons of people would stop to say hi or whatever to me.

Edit to add: Actually in my last year there, one of my teachers had taken note of my “popularity” particularly with girls. Referred to me as a “modern day Casanova” and asked for advice on what gift to get his wife. I had had girlfriends but buying anniversary gifts for a wife was a bit out of my wheelhouse lol

Yeah I’m like this and it’s not really a trauma thing for me. I’m just autistic and ADHD which basically means I take advice too seriously and I have a bad habit of getting into someone’s field of view or in their way by accident. As a result of being advised to be less visible every time I got in someone’s view, I accidentally became invisible. It’s something I’ve been working on lately actually and I’ve noticed I scare people less often since I started thinking about it

Yep! I read an article recently about a pentester who was challenged to break into a hotel, and they happened to use RFID in their cards. He social engineered and piggybacked into somewhere and then used a flipper zero to get around inside the building when he hit a locked door

Could you imagine, a huge 25k people protest. The police show up in riot gear and all of the protestors stop and go “OH TOOOOOOOTLES” and a bunch of vans drift around between the cops and humans and start unloading protective equipment (helmets, gas masks, etc) and keep a few bats/guns up on the walls
