  • I think I didn’t explain myself. I don’t put equal blame on Obama/Biden, but I have blame for them for not doing more and especially Obama for participating and Biden for not abolishing ICE facilities and still using private prisons for them, as well as increasing the number of arrests by ICE. How can we have change if the “only other option” claims to undo damage while actually planning on going back on it? I’m not stupid. I know Trump is using ICE in ways the dems never would. But if we just continue the status quo, then maybe 5% of Trump’s damage will be undone by the next dem administration while the rest continues without attention. People need to keep protesting when it’s a dem president, especially when they would have more pressure to not respond the way Trump is right now to protests. But instead people stop paying attention and get comfortable. And I believe there is blame in that.

  • How did you get from my comment that I was blaming Obama or Biden? My point is that a dem candidate is not automatically going to be progressive and they will often lie about issues they support/condemn when they act in opposite when they go into office. Despite all their years of power, they never attempted to reverse any immigration/deportation trends, they just maintained them at best and increased them more at worst. We need keen pressure on progressive candidates throughout their time in office is my point, and don’t forget when they go back on promises. The DNC does a lot to keep the old guard in their positions, and ousting them is a huge challenge, but it’s an extremely important one if we want any change at all.

  • Never forget how this organization was emboldened and allowed to be normalized under dem presidents too. Obama and Biden both had heavy pushes for deportation, yet you never saw that criticism come up from mainstream dems, or even the fringe ones. Don’t get it twisted; I know who the more harmful variety of politicians are, but change can’t happen until we hold everyone accountable regardless of who is in office. So many people only pay attention when a president they don’t like is in office and then turn their brain off as soon as their candidate gets in.
