Podman explicitly supports firewalls and does not bypass them like docker does, no matter whether you’re using root mode or not. So IMHO that is the more professional solution.

Nope, same here. Edit: in The Netherlands.
The most ridiculous thing in this image is someone calling himself “Gunther Eagleman”…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it common for family members to spy on each other's sexual behavior to find evidence of "degeneracy"? Or did I grow up in hell?English
52·28 days agoSounds pretty fucked up to me. Normal people will just accept you for who you are, whatever that is. Well, unless you’re a serial killer or something, but as long as we’re talking about consensual sexual preferences they should stay well out of your stuff.

15·1 month agoIt’s hilarious how different people respond to playing it solo. Some people say it’s the tensest thing ever but I’ve also seen a video from an elderly cozy gamer who thought it was the most relaxing thing she’d seen in a while. I’m more in the latter camp, been playing solo since launch and it’s been pretty chill.
I’m in a family group with only my wife and even we have 2 copies of Balatro.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•New home server, NixOS vs Proxmox vs ArchEnglish
1·2 months agoOh, that would have been really useful a year ago! Thanks, I’ll keep it in my bag of tricks, it looks pretty neat.
Yeah I wouldn’t call Arch a server OS. I run Arch on my laptop, but Debian on my docker/file/self-hosting server. Best tool for the job etc. Never even been tempted by Unraid, the whole point of running Linux is that I control what goes where.

7·2 months ago+1 for Podman. I switched from docker last year and I’m really happy I did. It’s not all sunshine and roses (can’t copy paste so much from the internet being the main issue, nobody gives examples for it), but the product itself is much better.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Servarr wiki recommends no VPN?English
22·3 months agoIf you only route your encrypted Usenet traffic through it then sure, the privacy argument is moot, you’re just spending money for worse performance without any benefit.
But way too many people route all their traffic through a VPN under the assumption that it improves privacy somehow, which often isn’t the case.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Servarr wiki recommends no VPN?English
62·3 months agoWorse performance, not everything works, and depending on the country you live in and which VPN provider you pick a VPN can actually be a downgrade in privacy since a second commercial entity now has the ability to look at all your traffic and distil valuable data from it to sell. The better VPN providers say they don’t do this (and some probably don’t) but a lot of them will definitely do so.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Servarr wiki recommends no VPN?English
13·3 months agoAlso: VPN is only really needed for torrenting, and that’s not the only way to pirate stuff. Usenet is perfectly fine to use without a VPN, since it’s encrypted (TLS/SSL if you configure it right) and other parties can’t just join your P2P network to see what you’re doing.

Buy European@feddit.uk•What are some great european tv shows?English
4·3 months agoThe Great British Sewing Bee (BBC). Even if you are not at all interested in sewing clothes. It’s so fucking wholesome and adorable that it’s a massive antidote to all the bad things out there. First season is still a bit rough, it gets better and better after that (there are 11 seasons in total now).

61·3 months agoAs an i3 owner it’s simply wild to me how BMW has squandered their massive lead in EV design. It’s still a better car than most new EV’s out there in many ways (it only weighs about 1.3 tons for example!). And every BMW EV since then has been a massive step back, although the newer generations coming next year might finally be a step in the right direction.

Space@mander.xyz•Our Solar System Is Even Stranger Than We ThoughtEnglish
5·3 months agoThis sounds like bad science to me. Our current exoplanet detection methods are heavily skewed towards detecting larger planets, depending on factors like the size of the parent star as well. So the planets we know of at the moment are most likely not at all representative of every planet that exists out there. Seems like a terrible moment to draw these kind of conclusions.

That’s because this isn’t managing people, it’s bullying people, and proper spelling isn’t really required for bullying.
