Not sure I follow? I worked for it. I worked very hard to be in a position to buy it and afford it. Some who can’t afford the full price but can pay rent and still get to benefit of a home living lifestyle without needing to own. What’s wrong with that?

There’s a divergence here because some people expect a hand out, not a hand up. There are programs in some countries where people rent to ownership and I think that’s what the government and other private companies should be doing. But I don’t like being lotted in the slumlord scums.

For what it’s worth, I’d like to add that I work a regular job still 50hrs a week. I have a single other property and don’t consider myself a “landlord” because it’s not my career or something I base my sole livelihood on.

If the government wants to make housing a human right and take it over with some fair compensation I’d be happy to not own. Property management comes with its own set of trials and challenges with horrible tenants, bad people go both ways.

  • Hilarious and also sad because it’s true. I was privileged to attend a private school for a bit and the grocery store across the street had to ban the students. I also worked 2 jobs at the school so I was able to talk to a lot of the various workers there and got talking to the cafeteria manager.

He told me that the theft at the cafeteria was insane and they had cameras and could identify who was stealing. Overwhelming it was the students from the richest most wealthy families.

Some of us got there through scholarships, some of them got there through money.

What I don’t like is I worked 3 jobs during school, never went on trip and lived very frugal. I was able to save up and buy a property. I played my cards right and also got some level of luck and was able to leverage the first house to buy a rental property. I do my hardest to treat tenant with fair rent and safe place to live.

Yet on paper, I am a “landlord” and demonized because of some bad apples. I hate it because I worked hard to get were I am and now I’m a problem and don’t want to just hand out my hard work.

I think there needs to be an asterisk on these things because I agree there is generational wealth and billionaires are a problem but damn if I had bought a couple of franchises instead and did well that way maybe I wouldn’t be as hated.

  • Well I have a middle class family member who had their life totally set out for them who then has abused drugs and alcohol and are in the slow process of losing everyone around them and being asked to leave their family home with wife and kids due to the abuse and defiance that they have any problems. They will find themselves homeless soon and still an addict.

I don’t know if these circumstances are set one way or the other. It’s always sad because help has been offered and given for a decade.

It’s tough because many situations are different and reasons why someone is homeless. In this comic the guy says he got sick, so it’s clear this situation a free housing solution would probably help.

In many situations there is a combined addiction and mental health issue that creates the problem. From my own experience with family, we had someone who needed help but refused it and it resulted in having them removed from the home.

People can become homeless like that and continue to refuse help and they go from friend to friend without making a change until they’re friendless and homeless. The biggest issue is they don’t want to accept the actual help they need but would rather just a hand out of money.

  • Wild to me that people are that stubborn. I am lucky that a friend gave my access to their server. I just feel bad asking for stuff even though they tell me all the time to ask for anything I want.

I offer to pay or buy some hard drive space but they say it’s okay.

Do you know if I can join more than one server? Do you guys think people will offer stuff like that? What do you guys think about IPTV people?

I’ve seen a few friends boast about their IPTV but as far as I’m co concerned the content is low quality and mostly filled with so much unnecessary content and the UI is very janky.
