Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do you think voting is or isn't important?
2·4 days agoSomewhat relevant, I really enjoyed this comment on lesser evilism: https://lemmy.world/comment/20970769
And I like what DB0 has to say about electoralism, but I can’t find the link I saved about it
Lol why is your link like that
It didn’t occur to me that the poll may function that way. Does it? I thought this was engagement bait in which the poll’s author lists only wrong answers as options

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Can you please explain the last joke you made that you're sure no one got?
18·5 days agoIn 7th grade, my class was doing an exercise in which you describe yourself using a list of adjectives starting with each letter in your name. My last name ends in the letter H, so I described myself with 11 grandiose adjectives, followed by “and most of all: Humble.” I didn’t get a single laugh, so I just ended up sounding like a narcissist
PEMDAS isn’t obvious to “common people”? Why not? It doesn’t seem like an arbitrary convention to me…
If “×” means “groups of,” then “2+2×4” means “two plus two groups of four” which only makes sense, to me, to be read as “two plus two groups of four” rather than “two plus two groups of four”
Sure the order of operations could be arbitrarily different, but I feel like we settled on that order because it simply makes more sense intuitively.
I’m aware of the possibility that it only feels natural and intuitive to me because I was taught that way, but I at least don’t think that applies to this specific example

11·7 days ago“Therapy speak” is such a growing problem that it was included in a newsletter I just got about “Trends for therapists to look out for in 2026.” It was #2 on the 6 item list
I used to be able to trust that when a new client says “my partner gaslights me” they meant they are literally being abused, but now I have to ask whether they’re being hyperbolic or using that term colloquially, which risks invalidating their experience.
This is similar to how people going gluten free caused a headache for people with celiac disease. Yes, there have been benefits, like growing awareness and more options on the shelf, but it also led to celiac folks not being taken/treated seriously, which could be deadly.
I miss these sketches 💔

5·8 days agoLeatherHub… This is the same company that blew up on TikTok after the cancer scandal?? (For those who don’t know, they were providing leather for a sex toy manufacturer, and it turned out their leather products were causing cancer due to chemicals leaching out of the leather)

64·11 days agoI’m a therapist and I’m here to tell you that, by pathologizing political resistance, you are directly playing into the hands of fascists, and it’s disgusting and abhorrent behaviour. You should be ashamed of yourself. It’s clear that you’ve been deeply propagandized; it’s not your fault, but it is your responsibility to take a step back and reevaluate. Think about how you got here, and consider the consequences of your rhetoric. This is liberal rhetoric, and liberalism facilitates fascism. This community’s rule about no liberalism is valid and there for good reason, and we’re grateful to the mods for keeping this space clean of it.

Edit:
I have edited the comment you replied to. Please tell me if this is easier to follow. They want to help you.
I looked at your posts. I don’t think you’re a troll. Your words can seem mean.
It seems you have some health issues. This helps me understand you better. I have friends with similar problems. When my friends struggle, they can sound like you sound, but they are good people.
I see you are upset about getting banned. You probably don’t like getting banned.
If you keep acting the same way, they will keep banning you. Your comments can annoy people. I understand why the moderators step in to help. They want to keep the community safe.
You need to change something. Please think more before you post.
You might try therapy, medicine, or other types of help to feel better.
If you want to avoid bans and deleted comments, you need to change how you act. The moderators won’t change, so you have to change.
I don’t know you. I don’t know what help you’re getting. I’m just a stranger. But I wanted to share this with you.
