Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft never learns, IT admins rage as a new OneDrive app invades Windows 11 and keeps coming back when you remove it
10·22 days agoBack in the day, I had my photos in multiple locations, some on local external drives, some in small cloud storage pockets….a bit of mess, really. Since I had a great deal on O365 family plan I thought - why not gather all of my various photo collections, and consolidate them on a single cloud storage - what could possibly go wrong? This is how I discovered that OneDrive doesn’t know how to read EXIF metadata properly. I ended up with basically a pile of over 30k pictures and videos, completely out of any order. Never again.

Technology@lemmy.zip•Logitech to ship mice with replaceable batteries in Europe only, following Nintendo
14·28 days agoExactly! Using proprietary battery shapes and sealing them inside the devices benefits only the manufacturer - everybody else loses. I also can’t believe the bullshit excuses they use to justify this: “open designs can’t be waterproof” (yes, they can), “sealed cases are thinner and lighter” (by a fraction of measurement nobody can even appreciate in daily use), etc.

Work Reform@lemmy.world•Palantir CEO Alex Karp predicts he will get 20x richer from AI—but middle-class workers will get left behind
411·1 month agoThere is this very small number of these tech bros and CEOs who at least try to appear “normal” and “relatable” with various levels of success. This guy though is literally begging for somebody to meet him in a dark alley with a baseball bat.
