Æðislegt! Gaman að heyra!
Yeah the friend thing is always tricky but if you’re open (as you clearly are) there’s always a community to be found with some tenacity!
Glad to have you 🤘

Bombandi, já maður! Velkomin/n!
Má ég spyrja: Hvers vegna Ísland? Hvernig gengur að læra tungumálið? Hvernig gengur að finna vinnu? Nærðu að vingast við fólk?
(Feel free to respond in English, it’s a bitch of a language to learn)
Hot damn! Well done, wish you all the best, if you haven’t posted already I’m sure there are some people on lemmy who might be interested in testing/contributing!
I’ll check it out myself if I ever get some spare time
That kind off decision really should come from the gameplay mechanics you want to incorporate. I’d say the only reason to pick now would be to limit scope and stick with your comfort zone. I’d encourage you to not decide right now, but try to make the roughest prototypes you can of each, trying to establish the base of your gameplay loop in each “orientation” and then compare the two and see which has the feel you want to go for
Ooh shit dude/tte, that’s awesome! Get it going as open source and post it somewhere for people to make PRs to (I’m not in a place to do so myself, but there’s bound to be others thinking the same as us)!
Ooooh, please spread that far and wide if you ever get around to it!!
I’ve never used a proper note taking app, but recently started using Tana (Startup, free-to-use with some limitations after giving a credit card and cancelling during a two week trial).
It’s not open source and it only supports full HTML bulleted list or a heavily proprietary JSON format (which is kinda useless outside Tana) exports. Also most of the paid features are AI BS which I don’t mind missing out on, but there are file-size limits on the free version.
However, I’m finding the UX and features so far amazing! It’s got easy relationships and a tagging hierarchy systems to which you can add fields and it supports a whole bunch of view options and query stuff. You can scroll through this 46 min YT video to get a feel for it!
Edit: forgot to mention at time pf writing (felt it was implied I guess), it’s cloud only, no local, one of the reasons I feel it’s not ideal
I think there you hit the nail on the head! Just the fact that it is in there, whether intentionally or not is something that warrants warning people about. So that in the case someone goes to set up a server, they at least know that recently there was this rather severe risk of unnecessary credential exposure, again no matter if it was intentional or not.
However, I will say that I think I would have also opened the PR, not to help the original dev necessarily, but helping those that might come to use the software later.
