No, I think that you have that right for every contract, that you enter (buying contract or otherwise). Though there are exceptions (for example digital goods like ebooks). Ypu can very much bring back a retail good that you bought in a store for 14 days after the purchase. Though I think they can refuse, if you damaged the product in that time.

At some point some user linked to a long reading list, where I stopped frustrated after 2 hours of reading and still being non the wiser. In all that time there must be some resource, that is more engaging and especially talking about modern life, not the life in the times of Marx (yeah, I know that the fundamental principles are the same). Es wird ja deutlich, dass ihr unwohl bei dem Gedanken ist, einen Vormund zu haben. Sie formuliert das nicht so direkt aus, aber denkt wohl, dass das dann doch keine Freiheit ist. Mensah zeigt zwar keinen Willen, ihre Macht als Vormund tatsächlich auszuüben, aber
SecUnit wertet ihre eigene (erkämpfte) Freiheit höher, als sie es ausspricht. Wahrscheinlich ist ihr das in dem Moment selbst nicht wirklich klar. Sie hat eher im Kopf, dass Menschen sie vorher zu Sachen gezwungen haben, die richtig Scheiße waren (die Beschreibungen von Missbrauch tauchen ja auch immer mal wieder auf, nur nicht direkt auf sie selbst bezogen). Diese Freiheit abzugeben fühlt sich dann falsch an.
Und ist es für sie ja auch. Sie will kein Haustier Bot sein, sie mag durchaus die Aufregung, will aktiv sein. Da lockt sie Preservation nicht so sehr.
Warum sucht die SecUnit sich den Name „Murderbot“ aus?
Ich denke, das ist eine ironische Aufarbeitung ihrer Identität als SecUnit. Es wird immer wieder erwähnt, wie Menschen von SecUnits denken, wie SecUnits in den Medien dargestellt werden. Und sie wurde erschaffen, um Gewalt auszuüben (wenn auch zum Schutz ihrer Klienten oder der Konzerninteressen)
Dazu kommt, dass sie gerade deshalb ihr Chefmodul gehackt hat, weil sie vorher eine Menge Menschen ermordet hat (oder das zumindest glaubt)
Sie wird also als Murderbot/Killerbot gesehen und ist es in gewisser Weise auch. Und doch ist sie deutlich mehr. Ich habe die Auswahl des Namens als eine Art innere Rebellion gelesen, die sie selbst mit Ambivalenz zu ihrer maßgeblichen Identität füllt.
