  • I think that the delineation is important because it sends the signal to naturalized citizens (many of whom voted for Trump) that there is one less degree of separation between them and ICE. First it was criminal illegal, then just illegal, now legal, only one or two more steps till the defence is “they were not white”. We need voters who would be targets to be scared into voting in their own interest.

  • I would give them a pass to shit on the people here who loudly and proudly scream that they did not vote at all. Depending on the communities that you focus on, you may get the impression that every Amercan on lemmy did not vote, and just want to piss and cry that they did not get the candidate (or communist revolution) that they preferred. Am American and voted for Kamala, not because I actively wanted her, but because you have to be pretty far gone to not be able to see she would have been better on EVERY front, INCULDING PALESTINE!

  • You are right and wrong.

Martin Luther had a problem with the idea of transubstantiation, but also rejected memorialism (the idea that you were taking the bread and wine to memorialize Christ’s sacrifice). Martin argued that the literal body and blood of Christ were “in, with, and under” the sacraments. His reforms denied the magical transformation of transubstantiation, but vehemently defended the literal presence of Christs blood and flesh in the sacraments.

In other words, symbolic ritual cannibalism. Maybe some modern protestant offshoots disagree, but this is definitely not contained to catholocism.

  • Its a buy borrow die strategy. You take loans and refi them to be larger and larger until you die, when you do, the cost basis is reset (so if your cost basis was 1,000,000, but your investments are now worth 20,000,000, your cost basis becomes an untaxable 20,000,000) this new “stepped up” untaxable money (in investments) is used to pay off the debt by selling some assets, lets say 5,000,000 in debt covered by selling (untaxable) investments. This would be for someone with a handful of millions of dollars, I can only imagine what it is like for someone who has hundreds of billions in assets…
