Screenshot of a Tumblr post by imsobadatnicknames2:

"A couple years later it’s still amazing what a perfect distillation the original ‘anonymized people of the global south’ tweet is of the absolute callousness of yankee liberals;

(Screenshot of a Twitter post by @loudpenitent: “An anonymized ‘people of the global south’ is not worth more than domestic queer citizens or any other member of any other marginalized community - or, bluntly, any fellow citizen at all. Real-ass human beings matter more than rhetorical constructs.”) (end of Twitter screenshot, back to imsobadatnicknames2’s commentary);

If I wrote a character saying this into a piece of media about how much americans suck it’d be too on the nose."

    I’m just locking this now before I wake up in 6 hours and the knives are out. I already know there’s not enough manners to go around.

    What does that tweet reference, who was supposedly using people from the global south as rhetorical devices, in what situation and for what end? This seems like a very ‘context matters’ situation.

      this tweet is an answer to the numerous leftists (most of them from the global south) criticizing democrats for being imperialist ghouls

      and it’s saying, to those leftists, “stfu ‘people from the global south’ is just a rhetorical construct, americans matter more than it”

      i.e. the tweeter blatantly doesn’t care about the numerous, very real lives from the global south impacted by american imperialists

          “People in other countries aren’t as important as people in this country” to translate it from liberal garbage.

              I think it’s the inclusion of the word “liberal” because that’s a political term with many different meanings depending on where you are geographically and politically.

      Yeah, this feels like one of those people who say things like, “I’m not gonna vote for Trump or Harris, they both support Israel and as such, support genocide” assholes who ignore the fact that Trump wants to do a hell of a lot more genocide than Harris.

        You entirely missed the point of this post, instead being an example of it.
