A new drug that gives almost complete protection against the virus was to be administered across Africa this year. Now, much of the funding for that effort is gone.

Shut the fuck up, literally what the fuck is wrong with you?

Let’s not blame the insane people in power, no it’s the Lemmy people who had valid criticisms of Harris who clearly swung the whole vote in trumps favor. Actual insanity.

And instead of pointing to how the democrats have continued to do essentially jack shit as a party under Trump, you continue to shit on the people who are pointing out the shit they could be doing but aren’t.

At this point it’s almost like you were one of Hillary CTR shills

Goodness gracious me, why would I complain on Lemmy about the behavior and opinions of people on Lemmy?

      It’s truly a mystery.

Do you actually believe Lemmy users on ML swayed the election, or is it more likely the democratic party did it to themselves?

I believe that the ultrapurist attitude that many Lemmy users follow was a non-zero factor in the loss in 2024, such as the some 2 million 2020 Biden voters who refrained from voting for Harris solely on the strength of the Palestine issue; and that the Dem Party’s fecklessness and incompetence was, likewise, a very non-zero factor.

Lemmy users ourselves, as with any small community, are not really a factor in anything but in determining which discussions are useful to have here.

solely on the strength of the Palestine issue

Palestine for Kamala was a lose-lose topic. There is no way she could state a plan or position on Palestine without penalty. Those who could see that were the same who thought, “of the two, which has a better chance on that one case of America meddling” and picked based on trends.

Those who couldn’t get that voted for Trump.

So you’ve decided shitting on people who voiced valid opposition is the best course of action instead of pointing to ways to materially improve anything.

That sure seems useful in a small community and not just driving division.

Ah yes, the ‘valid opposition’ of critical support for literal fascists winning, under the excuse that “both sides are the same anyway”.

Very valid, as this event (one of many, I might add) shows. Marginalized groups which depend on the government not being fascists thank you and your kind for your principled stand against our lives. It’s truly a privilege.
