I don’t even mind filler (side quests to buy time, fanservice, etc), but I hate those showdowns of ppl who will 100% fight, but for some reason just stand there staring at each other to kabuki instrumental music, then flashbacks to their childhood they already showed 10 times, then episode ends in a cliffhanger. Next episode starts with different ppl and ends with the fighters still staring at each other, maybe one single attack or they run towards each other, then cliffhanger. Next episode recaps the start of the showdown to kabuki instruments, then flashback to how they prepared for the fight, half of what you already know because one is a main character and it’s recycled from a few episodes ago. Cliffhanger. Next episode has the fight, but not its end. Cliffhanger. Recap of the fight to this point. Short flashback to childhood. Main character says something in his mind dedicating the fight to someone or spmething. Finally fight completes.
Someone needs to cut all the boring stuff and repetitions out. Filler with new material is okay. Just don’t waste peoples time.
Completely agree with the feeling. I think I still hate the fillers more, but these anime that space the actual action and interesting moments like that are awful. I really felt that this became more and more the case over time for Shippuden, which eventually got me to give up.
Seasonal anime with a fixed, 12 (or 24) episodes per season is such a better experience IMO.

Many anime suffer from this to some degree btw.
