This is the same problem we’ve encountered with Trump and “fake news“ and just the general distrust of all institutions. There are systems in place to prevent crazy behavior like this, but when you undermine them, they can’t do anything. So:
They say, “this is bad for you.”
I say, “it’s not.”
They say, “who says?”
I say, “[expert].”
They say “well they are in the pocket of [insert corrupt catchall group]” or some other excuse.
There is literally no way to get through to them. The only groups they trust are lying to them out the gate. And if any of them expresses regret later, it just means “they” got to them.
