While speaking on the final night of the GOP midterm convention, Vice President JD Vance said the country was “poorer” and “dirtier” before President Donald Trump was reelected for a second term.
“We were tired of being called racists for noticing that our country was becoming dirtier and poorer, and less safe and less prosperous,” Vance said on the final day of the two-day convention in Dallas, Texas.
His sentiment appeared to reflect the administration’s efforts to combat rising immigration rates in the U.S., a key campaign point during the 2024 election. Vance himself promoted unsubstantiated claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, in September 2024, spreading misinformation about the community abducting and eating pets.

Whether or not America was “dirtier and poorer” before Trump is immaterial here. Ascribing that to immigrants and people who look like immigrants is racist.
I’m sure they are tired of being called racist, but that doesn’t mean it’s not true.
It also wasn’t “less safe”, violent crime has been dropping for quite a while in most areas
No the FBI changed the definition of violent crime under Biden administration and have specifically ignored certain areas to bias the numbers.
Even if we pretend that is true, the statement you are responding to is about statistics that predate Biden… by decades. Violent crime has been going down since the 90s. On average people are probably safer today than they were fifty or even thirty years ago.
Is there a place I can get the raw data? That’s what I want raw data

Nice! I shall see for myself
Also, not to engage with the point too much, but what do they think of Muslim immigrants? Ethnically speaking, people from that culture is particularly strict on cleanliness.
When they say dirty, they don’t actually mean hygiene. They mean melatonin.
I mean I know what they think of them, sigh, I don’t know who I pretend there’s even a kernel of a good faith argument here
