The Houthis cannot project force into the Bab al-Madab strait as much as Iran can into the Strait of Hormuz. Contested territory, not as mountainess, no deep tunnels filled with countless drones.
However, as we have seen you don’t need to project that much force in order scare off commercial ships. One drone or mine is all would take.
This would just another front the US would need to manage either directly or through our allies.
The Houthis arent even claiming a blockage of the strait currently (except for Saudi ships) probably to buy time to cement their positions.

The benefit isn’t for you personally. It’s strategic: keeping Iran and Gulf states divided. If they united, they’d be a bigger threat to the US and Israel, and wouldn’t need US protection. The US would lose its presence in the Middle East. So division keeps Gulf states dependent on the US against Iran. that’s the benefit

I can see European politicians spinning this as technically not getting involved in the Iran-American war or the Israeli genocide because its the Houthis and this is a critical trade corridor for Europe. This would require Trump to stfu and not loudly boast about “how Europe is finally jointing Team American in the fight with Iran” and pissing off every European who wants nothing to do with this war.
