Horseshoe theory isn’t broadly accepted. The Wikipedia page for it is full of academics pointing out how terrible it is as a model for understanding the far left and the far right, and this summarizes it well:

Mass addiction to opioids was not due to any “moral decay” in China and it is also not in USA. It’s just market creating demand for their product, in other works, capitalism working as intended.
