The Supreme Court on Nov. 3 sounded likely to side with the Catholic Church in the latest high court dispute that pits religious rights against anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ people.

The justices debated for about two hours whether Colorado can require Catholic preschools to accept children of gay parents as a condition of public funding.

In recent years, the conservative court has robustly backed the First Amendment right to practice religion without government interference. A broad ruling for the church could pave the way for a wider range of religious exemptions from nondiscrimination laws.

require Catholic preschools to accept children of gay parents as a condition of public funding.

Quite the important detail here. If this passes then I can’t wait for the state funded Satanic preschools who teach about the dangers of Abrahamic religions.

Why couldn’t they do that already? These schools are already getting the public funding. The question is whether they can discriminate based off of sexual orientation.

The equivalent would be the Satanic Temple refusing Christians or Conservatives, which I doubt they would do.

AFAIK funding religious schools would be unconstitutional since the 1st Amendment protects us from the government endorsing specific religions. I dunno how nuances like universal enrollment fall into this but clearly what the Catholic schools are doing in CO would be unconstitutional despite what our corrupt Supreme Court thinks.
