Does anyone have an actual answer to the question? I have someone I’m trying to convert to Grapheneos but who is also trying to run a business, making a simple “block unknown callers” not very tenable.

News@lemmy.world•Minute Maid is discontinuing frozen juices after 80 years
2·1 month agoI can’t name one, frankly, but they exist. I had been getting the store brand for going on 20 years now because it’s been around that long that store brand has been better than name brand.
I don’t buy often, just when I’m hankering for chicken a l’orange.

I am equally thrilled to hear that they will be paying taxes on its success instead of getting a credit from its failure.
That’s happening, right? /s

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK a US passport card costs $30 and is definitive proof of citizenship. It fits in your wallet like a credit card.
1·2 months agoNot at all. And it’s a little cheaper than my state ID (which is not a driver’s license, just an ID) and lasts considerably longer (10 years like a normal passport instead of 2 for the state ID).
Its great value, if you don’t already need a license and don’t plan on doing any air travel.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK a US passport card costs $30 and is definitive proof of citizenship. It fits in your wallet like a credit card.
4·2 months agoThat’s because it’s a passport card. Cards are only useful for crossing into Canada or Mexico, or for some carribian islands.
More importantly, it’s not valid to use for entry via airplane anywhere, even if it’s one of the above. So basically most useful for people that commute between regularly or are going on cruises. Or in this case as proof of citizenship.
Full passports are $130 USD. I renewed both in November.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•My mom says that people who don't have "value" don't deserve to live and that "depression" is just an excuse for laziness. What's is your rebuttal for it?
1·2 months agoApart from that, if “useless” people truly didn’t have a purpose, then why did nature make them in the first place?
This won’t work on this sort of person. Failure is a personal choice in their narrow world view.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it a bad idea to learn Russian because of everything?
6·3 months agoI’m of the general opinion that learning new things is never a bad idea, but let’s break down your sub question regarding usefulness.
At the very least a basic understanding is certainly useful. I make a point to at least learn alphabets and their sounds so I have a fighting chance putting what I hear into a translation engine. Similarly, Russian isn’t the only language that uses Cyrillic.
Paet that though? In my lifetime it was first unthinkable that I could ever visit Russia, then became possible and even a tourist destination (see: Trans-Siberian rail), and back to basically unthinkable to me.
It’ll most likely swing again.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Bell peppers are the same colours as traffic lights
19·3 months agoRed, orange, yellow and green are all the same varient, but at different ripenesses. The others are different varients.
Mostly just a novelty. Throw in a bit more colour, if available.

2·5 months agoThere is one federal seat up for 2025 and it’s for a Texas rep.
Local elections are also important, but I’m not sure what in context you’re expecting people to do with that.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What technology would you give to ancient people just to fuck with them?
5·5 months agoThat’s Greek and we have a pretty good understanding of them.
I think the person you’re replying to is referring to these odd little dodecahedrons that we keep finding in former Roman provinces, but for which we’ve found no documentation as to what they were for, if anything.

Not signing anything while congress is in session means it becomes law within ten non-sunday days.
Not that I would ever expect him to know that.
That said, I also wouldn’t mind if he vetoed every partisan line bill coming out of this congress, either.
