  • That may work temporary. Last year I got a warning for a joke, just a movie quote. I got a temporary ban, I appealed and instead of a reply, they extended it to 3 weeks, which I appealed again, because that’s just bullshit and they dubbled down with a permanent ban, claiming ban evasion. The thing is, I had 2 other accounts I hadn’t accessed in years. Their UI even allows for multiple accounts. This year I got a new account though my work computer. And yesterday I dared to make another joke and they pulled the same crap.

Anyway I’m done with them. The few months on that new account felt like walking on eggshells.

  • Lost my 13 year old account that way too. Never broke any of the rules, never insulted anyone nor posted anything offensive. On a thread about Candian Uranium mining I made the joke asking if they delived to underground lairs too. Which is somehow insiting violence and resulted in a warning. About a week later I made another similar joke and got a three day ban. After that ban passed, I got a 7 day ban, and contacted them. They ofcourse turned it into a permanent ban for any account I had. None of those I had used in a very long time.

A month later I managed to get a new account that lasted half a year, until I got an AI warning on some keyword or something (not even anything offensive) and that got the account banned.

This whole thing is just insane. I tend to avoid confrontation, even online, but if I find the contact information of someone on the board of Reddit, I’m going to send them my opinion on this matter. Not that I expect any effect, but I’m quite pissed on being gagged by some faceless moderator.

  • I had a 11 year old account on Reddit. Used it pretty much daily. Last week I got a 3-day ban. No idea what I wrote that was wrong, as Reddit removes the content. Two days after that ban, I got another 7day ban. Now I do know what post it refered too, and in no way it violated their rule about violence. So I appealed and, ofcourse, it was denied. Not ok, but I could let that pass, except the refusal refered to the wrong content, namely the one from the first ban. I appealed again and they just banned my account. I don’t know if I’m even going to bother making a new one.
