It goes to show even Republicans don’t understand how Trump came to have so much power.
To recap: He appeared and said things that were universally condemned since the beginning. The point of that wasn’t to win over voters, it was to increase name recognition to the point that everyone knew and was talking about Trump in national media. After that, Trump had a direct line to voters and could exploit that relationship directly without the national media.
Right now, they are giving Mamdani national name recognition. This is fantastic. If they keep this up, he’ll have a direct line to voters just the same.
And maybe, just maybe, once they know who he is, some sizable part of the population will actually vote for [checks notes] health care, increased pay, increased protections, taxing the rich.
He not only did what you describe, but by buying Twitter, he intentionally worked to polarize the entire political base into neat “pro-Trump” and “anti-Trump” camps. Then he finished systematically burning his bridges with both. Amazing work all around.

I mean, I fully expect them to settle and that’s depressing, but so far they haven’t. The article is paywalled, but it looks like this is what a mediator has proposed, that’s all.
Republicans’ pitch has always been: Government doesn’t work. Elect us and we’ll prove it.
I actually don’t think he’s manifesting it, I think he’s narcissistically deluded and thinks if he says it then the sheer power of the U.S. Presidency (owned and subjugated to Donald J. Trump) will force them to stop. And then when they don’t, he’s pretty much having a mental break.
And for retro games, emulators have left even that in the dustbin of time.
Sick of the last RPG save happening 20 minutes before a boss fight? Save at literally any moment with save states.
That too much work? You can rewind the entire game.
Here is the 2016 Adam Curtis documentary referenced in the article, by the same term we use to describe what’s happening: Hypernormalization.
It was a documentary I’d highly recommend when I saw it in 2017, during Trump’s first term. Now I think it’s required viewing, which is depressing since almost nobody has heard of it, despite living in the exact demoralizing and uncanny reality it describes.
I’m confused, isn’t this a better spot for the drain hole? When you sit facing the wall? So you have a shelf for your comic books and chocolate milk?
Adams presumably is still serving Trump, and is hoping to split votes for democrats who are voting on pure incumbent name recognition.
