News@lemmy.world•U.S. military willing to attack “designated terrorist organizations” within America, general says
97·10 days agoIs this a declaration of civil war? We all know their use of the term “terrorist organizations” is bullshit, so they are really just saying that they are going to start killing US citizens without due process on American soil. This general needs to be court martialed. He is not upholding his oath to the constitution.

World News@quokk.au•Three more Farage bloc MEPs alleged to have followed Russian asset’s script
9·17 days agoHow is it not common knowledge by now that almost all right wing politicians are trying to ally with pootin? Farage, afd, orban, le pen, Trump, and many others all have relationships with russia. Just a bunch of rich assholes who think they can take over the world. They don’t care about you or the country they claim to represent. Its an attempt at a new world order that rejects western values such as democracy. I feel like im taking crazy pills that these people have any support at all with all this being so blatantly obvious.
I have an eighth that I had tucked away and forgot about. I recently found it but am kinda scared of it. Its at least a decade old now, and I don’t know how long they’re good for… I don’t imagine they age like wine. I was thinking of maybe trying to make a tea but don’t really know how to do that either.

News@lemmy.world•The $79 Trillion Heist | We’re in an affordability crisis because workers aren’t being paid at the same levels they earned in the past.
20·23 days agoThe problem is it was only “discussed” instead of “railed against”. Then the Citizens United ruling came around, and the country was lost to the oligarchs.
I never really thought about it, but isn’t the question actually “why do opposite charges attract?” Doesn’t it come down to stability? The universe likes equilibrium and combining opposite charges is an attempt to equalize.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•We shouldn't have to go to college in order to afford a house by 30.
71·2 months agoI understand. Skilled trade is still a job that one needs to find in order to get paid. You either need to go to trade school then find a job or find someone to take on an apprentice and learn on the job.
Those jobs might pay well after a while, but what I wouldn’t like is the reason those jobs pay well is usually because they require a lot of overtime. So yes you might be able to buy a house, but you won’t get to spend as much time actually living in it.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•We shouldn't have to go to college in order to afford a house by 30.
44·2 months agoThe trade-off is that finding a job that doesn’t require the large debt that comes with college means the job might not pay enough for a house, or if it does, its the kind of job where you don’t get much time to actually spend at said house.
I remember hearing that one potential reason for it not being as popular in the US was that TV stations couldn’t make as much money since theres no timeouts or stopages in play. American football has a lot more down time allowing for more ads.
Personally I think American football is boring as shit. Its one 5sec play followed by 30sec of standing around. Average game is something like 3hrs, but theres only about 10min where the ball is actually in play.

32·2 months agoI certainly am ignorant of made of things… Romney was the one who campaigned on being stronger towards Russia. Obama was the one caught on a hot mic talking about working with putin.

34·2 months agoI not only don’t remember that, the thing I do remember was Obama being too soft with Russia. That’s one thing Romney ran on in 2012. A quick search mentions 300 troops being sent to Ukraine to help train Ukrainians after the invasion of Crimea…

55·2 months agoNever claimed to be well informed…
A quick search says that the Minsk agreement was never signed by anyone with the authority to do so. The “Maiden Coup” or “Maiden Revolution” can be framed any way you want, but I guess I would prefer to error on the side of democracy. People clearly wanted to work closer with the EU and Yanukovych was only gonna do what russia wanted. So once again, progressives supporting democracy is not a contradiction.

53·2 months agoAbout those claims, yes. I definitely don’t ever remember any nato troops amassing. I feel like that would’ve been pretty big news. And I have serious doubts about what you would consider “western provocations”.
