Luckily, a) Saxony Anhalt, the state they won, is only a neglectable small piece of redneck shithole on the course to go extinct. 1.8m voters, with numbers falling. In other words, about 2.5% of Germany. b) They promised heaven and earth to get voted, most of which they simply cannot turn into reality, because they fall under federal jurisdiction. Anything they could actually change is way, way down on their political agenda, and still limited by reality, and, of course, financial limits. And as a state where any young person with an education and chances for a job has been leaving for greener pastures for over a decade, there is not much money to be found. Especially when federal and foreign investment money dries up, which is to be expected.

I can count bits and know how much complexity you can build into them, so I can see that the interesting problems where they promise that quantum computers could actually do something are far beyond what they can handle.

They can handle a few hundred to a thousand bits, and getting more into it seems to get more and more complicated instead of easier. I would not be surprised if quantum computing will hit a wall where adding just another bit would eat more energy than all the AI burners together.

Yes, about AI they said it a decade ago. About quantum computers they are saying it for way longer, nearly as long as fusion reactors, and I believe we are decades closer to a working fusion reactor than a usable quantum computer.

Naja, wen wundert es? Es hat sich sehr schnell gezeigt, dass Merz einfach nicht “Kanzler” kann, und seitdem eiert die Regierung herum. Das ist halt das Problem wenn wirkliche Lösungen politisch nicht opportun sind.

Jetzt ist er so verbrannt, dass Kritiker anfangen, dieses “nicht opportun” zu Überwinder.

Aber selbst wenn sie Merz durch einen brauchbaren Kanzler ersetzen, wird es schwer werden, die Wähler bei der Stange zu halten. Denn die Lösungen, die aktuell gebraucht werden, sind leider nicht im Koalitionsvertrag.

Wir können z.B. diesen Staat nicht nur auf dem Rücken der unteren und mittleren Einkommen finanzieren, und die “oberen Zehntausend” durch “Steuergestaltungsmöglichkeiten” und quasi nicht existierende Steuerprüfungen von ihrem Verpflichtungen entbinden.

Und das ist nur ein Problempunkt auf einer langen Liste. Aber die Politiker verarschen lieber ihre Wähler als ihre Parteispender (und die, die ihnen nach der Politik gutbezahlte Posten zuschustern) auch nur anzufassen.

Of all the presidents in the last 25 years, Trump is the most unlikely candidate to do anything about this. He is absolutely best buddies with the sheiks down there.
