I’ve seen it plenty of times. Solitary confinement is torture, punitive beatings are torture. Where I’m from, it’s very common for parents to inflict these forms of torture on their children.

Shitty parents who fetishize rules and uphold them over what is right are very common in my personal, lived experience. Yes, definitely. Plenty of parents would just see “my son punched someone at school and got suspended for 2 days” and they would do everything in their power to make those 2 days hell as punishment. I’m honestly amazed some of y’all seem not to be familiar with these types of parents.
