The articles I found specifically called out the obesity epidemic as being the issue. I strongly doubt that enough of the ~150 million bra wearers in this country are augmenting their breasts enough to adjust the median that far in just 20 years.

I would have guessed that 36B was also the median size in the US. Apparently it used to be 34B and is now 34DD because people are shockingly unhealthy.
I mean… Walgreens carries 40 Vol hair bleach. Typically that’s %12 peroxide. You can usually get industrial sizes locally too if you live in a larger city, people use it for retro-brighting.

131·2 days agoGiven what it would have taken to get a picture with lighting like that on film, I would guess this was a pre planned shoot that just happened have the towers as a back drop that day. Most of the footage we have of the first tower is from people who were doing other things with their cameras and camcorders at that time.
Caldera had a GUI installer in 1998…

lol, in this case ‘update’ would require physically replacing the ROM chip on the motherboard. Sometimes they were nice enough to make it a socketed chip.
I have a 486 with a mouse driven BIOS…
Edit: Here is a screenshot I found online that looks like the one I have (note the 1994 copyright at the top):

Medan human walking speed is ~4 MPH* so, actually, yeah pretty much half of people aren’t going to be able to do 3 miles in 45 minutes right off the bat. That’s before we take into account crosswalks and other walking hazards and that obesity and sedentary lifestyles are on the rise.
* I was taught 5 MPH but I found multiple sources that listed 5, 4, and 3 MPH so yeah…
You only need to do that if you are using an eink screen.

The writing has been on the wall for a while. I remember hearing quotes about wanting to turn Xbox into a Steam competitor back in like 2018. I was honestly surprised when they released the Series. I was pretty sure we would get some sort of streaming only console after the One X|S.
I imagine going forward, in addition to the streaming services, we are going to see Xbox leveraged as “certification” for other manufacturer’s hardware where consumers can be assured that this device meets some set spec for this year’s Xbox games.

This seems like a weird detail to add to me unless you are trying to make the story fit a specific narrative.
Windows 7 wasn’t Microsoft’s choice. It was the last version they produced under the injunction from the late 90s that prevented them from bundling services with Windows. Otherwise Microsoft actually had Microsoft Accounts (then called .Net Passports) ready to go for XP but had to make it optional. They had planned to tie activation to an account back then.
This also represents the last time the US gave a shit about antitrust.
