Lorena, who now goes by her maiden name of Gallo, still resides in Manassas with her daughter and partner of over 20 years, according to TIME.

She is an advocate for domestic violence and the founder of the Lorena Gallo Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides domestic violence and sexual assault prevention, intervention and awareness services in Prince William County, Va.

“One of my missions is to educate the public and young women about the red flags in dating an abuser. I go to colleges and talk to sororities,” she told TIME in 2018. “I volunteer in local shelters for victims of domestic violence in northern Virginia. I’m a facilitator. “The engineers at NASA, in their infinite wisdom, decided that women astronauts would want makeup — so they designed a makeup kit,” Ride was quoted as saying in a January 2018 tweet shared by the NASA History Office.

It is not uncommon for astronauts to head to space with their own personal hygiene kits, which have been issued as standard equipment for astronauts since the 1960s. These kits typically contain items like a toothbrush, lotion, deodorant, comb, and razor. But in a predominantly male field in the 1980s, experts apparently had limited knowledge in the types of hygiene items that would be necessary for a woman.

The optional — and unused — makeup kit included eyeliner, mascara, eye shadow, eye makeup remover, blusher, and lip gloss. It went on display in the Human Spaceflight at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, in 2002.

Just want to second all of this advice. Make showering as pleasant as possible - I use podcasts the most. I’ll even bring in my coffee or a cold beverage and reframe it as “spa” time.

Also showering every other day, as long as you’re not in a super hot climate, is usually plenty to keep yourself at normal levels of cleanliness.

There’s a lot more professions than doctor or nurse where one might have a patient under their care. It’s also possible that OP meant charge instead of patient depending on if English is their first language.

Plenty of doctors and nurses are naive or lacking in certain areas of “smarts”.
