A new NBC News Decision Desk Poll shows the majority of American adults think the country is on the wrong track, as the economy remains a top concern.

Donald Trump’s approval rating remains steadily underwater among adults as he nears the end of his first year back in the White House, and he has lost some ground among his “Make America Great Again” base, according to a new NBC News Decision Desk Poll powered by SurveyMonkey.

Trump’s approval has inched down in 2025 amid concern about the economy, while Americans remain worried about inflation and costs after Trump’s campaign promises to ease those anxieties. Respondents’ concerns were apparent in everyday spending decisions like grocery shopping, holiday spending and more, the poll shows.

Other high-profile Trump decisions, including his handling of the controversy over the so-called Jeffrey Epstein files, have scored negatively with Americans. Trump initially opposed a congressional move to force the release of the files before relenting to pressure from both parties last month.

He just makes me feel good about myself.

You’ll never get rid of those core cultists. They’re the ones who would rather suspend all belief and listen to a “strong” leader.

        Never say never

These weakminded credulous cretins were molded day by day with Russian/Chinese/Iranian propaganda.

If the Democracies of the world created a properly fundrd institution that mounted a serious counter-narrative, MAGA would morph into an idealized '50s-narrative America. Still ignorant and parochial, but not totalitarian nor xenophobic

The other batch would be the accelerationists who just want to see Trump kill the whole world.

We simply don’t appreciate how suffocatingly propagandized most of the country is. It’s insane, and it’s 24/7 for people that don’t have niche communities. That’s most people.

The real number here is what percent of republicans approve. I’m clocking that at around a solid 90% to make that number.

Edit: ok, so 70% of “MAGA republicans” according to the article. But there’s “regular” republicans as well.

trump voters will complain and whine that their life is wrecked now, with no one to possibly blame but trump, but they’ll STILL vote R all the way down the ballot, because they’ve been so thoroughly brainwashed and mind-controlled that they see anything not-R as literally satan coming to eat their children

There will be no cracks in 2026. They will fall in line and all show up to vote. Meanwhile, the left will refuse to vote because they don’t like the options—despite knowing that the right will win.

Yeah that’s the problem. Hope. Politicians thrive on creating hope—and that’s where most of them stop. It has been a dismal decade with politicians.
