We had coworkers from India over here, visiting for a conference. They asked how many kinds of mango we can buy here and it was at that moment that I realized there’s more than one kind of mango. Sure, it makes sense. There are many types of apple or pear. I just never thought about it, because there’s only ever one kind of mango at the store.
Every year we get imported Banganapalli mangos from India, when ripe these have an extremely rich taste. Nothing like the regular ones from the grocery stores. Sadly they are very seasonal, like 2 months.
I love mangoes but does anyone else notice that sometimes they have a slightly fishy smell+aftertaste?
Here we say that when the mango is good it runs down your elbows.
