Lost tankies are cute.
Now go back to the front and absorb some drone strikes for your comrades.
People still sit in front the TV watching broadcasts while holding a remote control?
(Yes, they do, they’re generally over the age of 70)
I don’t like how we can’t define what being “Decent” even means anymore. Why is it now such a huge problem for people to figure out what’s right and wrong? How did we actually have a Christian pushback against empathy?
I lost a friend recently. To religion.
He revealed that he can’t figure out how to have his own values so he turned to Jesus. He said he can’t tell what’s right or wrong anymore. What was happening is that his family were supporting Trump mindlessly, but he felt uncomfortable with it because he has a young daughter and feels really apprehensive about Trump’s history and allegations among other things.
So his solution? Turn to Christ, his family’s Church said that Trump is chosen by God, so he can now support Trump without a conflict of conscience.
Yes, that is literally his reasoning, and he is fine with it.
This is the average median voter in this country. This is why everything has gone to shit. Because average people look outside themselves for moral guidance.
I was always told how people follow cues of other people for an idea what to do or not, but I never really saw it until I saw a car get crushed by an 18-wheeler on the highway and traffic came to a stop. Someone got out of their car. Picked up a piece of twisted bumper that was in the lane in front of him, moved it aside and got back in and everyone kept driving. (I helped pull the old couple out and they were okay, not another soul stopped. DPS officers said that’s normal, sometimes they will go out to remote accidents and people will have bled out in their car because nobody stopped to check the occupants.)
And the amount of effort and space and knowledge you need to turn your love for gardening into a self-sustaining subsistence is utterly unfeasible for the vast majority of humans right now.
We tried it. We did it for eons. Then slowly, people started realizing they could trade what they have extra of, for things they needed, and that we could even centralize this trading system and cities were born, and then people were able to work jobs managing the trade of goods instead of just digging in dirt day and night and fewer people starved or froze every winter.
Our working world is, for the most part, objectively better than how we’ve lived for the last several hundred thousand years. What is making us miserable is our lack of community and connection, because we didn’t do all that stuff I mentioned above alone. We survived by making groups, families, communities and eventually cities and nations.
We are in the better timeline right now, but all ya’ll kids played Stardew Valley a buncha times and now you think you can go be farmers and be anti-social introverts at the same time.
All decent humans hate pedophiles
There has been a recent wave of online influencers and their ilk suddenly talking about how being attracted to minors is “the most natural thing in the world for all men.”
Combine this with the recent push for removing child-labor laws and you really see what the right’s values are.

I used to be the one screaming at people in the transhumanism subreddits that they’re delusional, now I’m screaming that they’re not delusional, no, go ahead, make it smarter, faster, bigger… put the thing in charge of the stock market, it’ll be great bro, I promise.
ameancow@lemmy.worldto science@lemmy.world•Fossil discovery in Greenland ice stuns and worries scientists: "Don't buy a beach house"English1·14 hours agoI’ll compromise and say it’s a little of column A and a little of column B.
It’s true the Boomer boomers took away a LOT of the bedrock of modern democracy, capping off with the reign of Reagan and the whole greedonomics of the 80’s.
But the younger generation has only been led to believe they’re powerless, it’s just that the actions they would need to take up at this point have become massively uncomfortable and the corporate wing of our federal government has had free reign to spill comfort all over us every day. We are a manipulated population.
It’s really hard to mount organized, democratic resistance and grassroots community action when you’re going to face massive amounts of anonymous hate, threats and backlash from even friends and family for championing… checks notes …clean water and medical care, while alternatively you can retreat to Discord where you have a polycule of various other people who feel too deeply about the world that they have chosen escapism and fantasy and air conditioning and a sheltered world where nobody is going to trample their feelings.
Not saying there aren’t principled fighters out there, it’s just that it’s much, much harder to get the general, scrolling public to pay attention when everyone just wants to scroll their feeds and check out after working 18-hour shifts to stay alive.
This isn’t an insurmountable problem but we would need enough people to suddenly feel uncomfortable enough to set aside their daily discomforts and start organizing for a better tomorrow, but the internet has a way of attacking you for wanting better things, so we also need to do something about the internet.
ameancow@lemmy.worldto Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•Thank god the debt got blown up so that suppressors are tax freeEnglish51·1 day agoIn a Warlord Economy, the only exports your band of raiders can successfully manage are surface-level resources like wood and fossil fuels, and of course guns. Once those easy resources are sold off or stripped bare, the warlords typically move on to greener pastures to conquer.
You only need to look at some of the other Warlord Nations in the world to see what America will become rapidly as we lose our infrastructure and support systems for high-wage jobs, tech development and educated labor who can build or design things. Russia 2.0 babyeeee.
ameancow@lemmy.worldto Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•Thank god the debt got blown up so that suppressors are tax freeEnglish154·1 day agoMore importantly, this isn’t a burning issue unless your an ammosexual who needs to scream about guns every 30 minutes or the shell-casings that make up your grey-matter start to bulge with pressure, or someone who thinks suppressors are like magic death sticks that make guns even scarier. This is a moderately successful attempt at creating more distraction and contentious social discourse.
Just scroll down, there are already hundreds of gun-obsessed lefties and libs even on Lemmy screaming back and forth about this like it’s going to change the world and lead to more/less murders.
Meanwhile… the bandits continue to haul money out of our treasury, the laws that protect us are getting repealed, and the tools we needed to build a better democracy are being destroyed, all while the worldwide economy leaves the US behind.

Denying it is denying reality.

Whether or not you think this is a good thing is another topic. I’m just shocked more people don’t know about this.
edit: I literally do not care, it’s a minor issue to me, spamming me with links about this thing you’re frothing over means nothing to me, I’m not even contesting anything, there’s like three people reading down this far, you need to get off the soapbox and chill bros.

Do you at all think we’re in a civilized and rational world? The best way to prevent your ideology from being harmed by the actions of a few is to not fucking lie or live in delusion. Call it out, reject it. Don’t stick your fingers in your ears and say “OUR SIDE WOULD NEVER” or you look the fool.
Normalizes the notion that it’s normal at all to say things like “What if we don’t feel comfortable around X” when most of liberal America is fine or uncaring at worst. Of course a professor will dismiss the question, it shouldn’t be seen as something exceptional, it’s not heroic to tell an idiot to shut up. It’s continuing the atomization of ideologies. I don’t even care if it’s something that really happened, this kind of shit is used by both sides to ramp up hysteria. But I guess that ship has long since sailed.
If you haven’t spent time actively reading and understanding how the right thinks, talks and shares with each other in their own online spaces, you will think it’s ridiculous, so I don’t know why I tried to pass the message along here in these very sheltered communities. Maybe it will give someone something to think about.

First time?
It’s actually more complicated than I bet most Lemmy users can comment on, there are so many varieties of worms, different kinds of topsoil and interactions, and the idea that animal feces can vary wildly in composition and starts undergoing chemical changes as soon as it contacts air.
Instructions unclear, ate urine and became even more mortal.
That kind of breathless nonsense doesn’t need a special sense, it’s glowing and shooting tanks out of every orifice.
