@TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world you can’t just look at Green party voters because some people very likely also stayed home instead of voting for the same reason. If you could also count those it’s possible one or more would have flipped.
That said, it’s always a combination of factors so it is still partly to blame even if we assume it wouldn’t have done it alone.

I don’t deny these can cause privacy issues as does the ubiquity of small devices with high quality cameras in general but I don’t think this law professor really understands the tech very well if she’s worried about “nudification” in connection to these.
There’s nothing in particular about smartglasses that would enable such a use and they’re considerably worse than a regular phone for that in every regard except for the covert picture taking. They completely lack the displays and processing power needed for it unlike, say, a phone.

@echodot@feddit.uk I don’t think that’s the determining factor for whether something is useless for AR. AR can be useful even just because it lets you be aware of your surroundings. Then there’s the fun of combining real-world objects and structures with virtual ones. Quest 3 can be good for both to some extent.

@jj4211@lemmy.world the SoC is better than Quest 3 so that is also a notable improvement. Comfort seems likely to be significantly better than with Quest 3 and default strap. Wireless dongle is included in the price. Will have to wait for reviews to know how some other aspects compare.

@utopiah@lemmy.world @ampersandrew@lemmy.world seems like there’s more potential for hardware upgrades than with any other headset since the system has separate modules for compute/optics+display/tracking and audio/strap/power but sure, no XR headset is going to be very upgradable given the harsh constraints on size and weight.

@Kolanaki@pawb.social @ampersandrew@lemmy.world @games@lemmy.world
Some important differences in the specs. It’s not the same SoC, should have like 20-30% more GPU power, then there’s their whole wireless streaming system (comes with the dongle). Could potentially do something better for audio but it certainly cannot be Index quality in that regard.
At the end of the day Meta does still do the console thing of subsidizing the headset with the software and Valve doesn’t always do that so how close or far it lands in price is going to depend on that too.
@DragonAce@lemmy.world there’s really no evidence of that at all and their support staff is much smaller compared to the size of the fleet. You can also find plenty of examples of Waymos behaving in a way that human remote controlling them would never be doing. So it’s seems very unlikely that these vehicles are some kind of “mechanical turks”.
