It’s bizarre this isn’t a foregone conclusion. It’s also bizarre science isn’t plotting a course for a hantavirus vaccine. 50-80% mortality last check, on those contracting the HPS version.
The reason we had a covid19 vaccine so quickly was because of all the work that was already done for a vaccine due to prior Coronavirus outbreaks (SARS in 2022, and MERS in 2012, with the latter seeing a resurgence in the past few years).
Plus some of these transmissions don’t seem so close contact, one person caught it sitting two seats behind someone on a plane with it.
It this goes airborne in a real way it could get bad. And if it was doing that, they would be telling us exactly what they are telling us now. Hopefully they can contain it still.
