I just assumed that was the case from the initial “headline” in top left. Not sure what the purpose of top right panel would be otherwise.

Close, I think? I was doom scrolling and pessimistic about why this was newsworthy but it turned out just being cute. Two players on the same team getting engaged to different people is still joyous, but that story doesn’t come with the implied story of people achieving excellence together with their life partner.
Makes me wonder, are women’s pro sports leagues just that much more progressive, or do people just not give a fuck about lesbians? Seems like it’s much easier for women living a progressive lifestyle to fly under the radar (or rather AFAB people, considering that people don’t really seem to care about trans men either), most of the public hate seems lazer focused on AMAB people.
Generally, yeah, lesbians only get the standard misogyny plus a small extra gay percentage of hate for being lesbians.

I’m sure you didn’t mean anything like this but I really want to push back on the idea of not being in a cishet monogamous pairing as being a “progressive lifestyle”.
I haven’t looked into it or anything but I know when players were interviewed on the radio at least one mentioned their wife when talking about moving to Ottawa for the team. That person was already married and therefore are not these two people, so yes there are more than two players on the Ottawa PWHL team who are women who love women.
I didn’t want to mention Heated Rivalry because I’m not their target audience so it’s okay if I don’t get it, but it seemed like a really odd choice when women’s sports are gay as hell (which rules) whether it’s public knowledge or not.
