      Yes. Yes it is.

Edit: Specifically, she was fired for making the following statements:

The actor continued to say, “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

Full disclosure, I’ve followed her career from all the way back in her UFC and American Gladiators days. I don’t think she should have been fired for her words, let alone those words, but I’m curious, who was she calling the nazis in this scenario and what are those political views being so oppressed? Because it feels like there might be more nuance to the story that’s being ignored.

Some of the extra nuance is that she routinely would dip her toes in the ‘far right’ hate cess pool. Disney, being Disney, asked her to dial it back. After enough incidents they cut bait. She was a bit character on a show that had some heat and refused to just not cry about courting Nazis.

Like you gotta know that Star Wars on Disney is going to be focused on kids. And if you’re running around pushing conspiracy theories about Jews, you can’t be too shocked when they shut it down.

My dude, this was about vaccines and masking and shit. She was literally over there comparing the attempted extermination of multiple groups of people by literal Nazis to taking a quick shot and wearing a 4-in square of fabric on her face.

A public figure trivializing the fucking Holocaust is certainly cause for not renewing a contract.

criticized for social media posts that mocked mask wearing during the pandemic and alleged voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election. She also mocked the use of gender pronouns, listing “beep/bop/boop” in her social media bio.

She was making the “people on the right should have free speech” argument, with the most historically inappropriate analogy possible.

Yeah, that’s been spot on my same take on the situation. I think she should be allowed to have whatever views she wants, regardless of how strongly I disagree with them. That being said, her censorship is more a result of unchecked capitalism than anything else. Disney’s only care in the situation is if someone said something to pisse off the people that give them money. Nothing more, nothing less.

That’s a dumb statement, but it’s pretty tame and no reason to fire someone. This is what people mean when they talk about Woke 1.0

By today’s standards, yes, this seems tame. But keep in mind the context. She had made numerous right-wing and fringe statements before (e.g. questioning the efficacy of COVID masks), and this is basically equalizing the treatment of Jews by the Nazis to people making hateful comments about MAGA. It’s a pretty insane and inappropriate comparison. I will say I think she had a point later, when she argued she was discriminated against because the network hadn’t fired other actors who compared Trump to Hitler. Both statements are similarly disrespectful to the victims of one of the worst atrocities in history (although I would also qualify that they’re not equally disrespectful—Trump does at least admire Hitler and arguably aspires to be him).

I guess I’m saying I can understand why they fired her. Part of me doesn’t agree with it—I think people should be allowed to make political statements outside of a work context without risking their jobs—but with our current societal norms siding with corporate image concerns, this does seem in-line with the norms of that approach. I don’t agree with her statements and think she should have had the right to say them without reprisals, but she also has no right to be surprised at the consequences in my view.

            Define “political statement”.

Because it looks like you’re putting “this is just like beginning of the holocaust”, “non-whites don’t deserve human rights” and “let’s seriously consider not having a secret police” in the same bracket here.

A statement being a political position doesn’t (or rather shouldn’t) automatically shield you from the other meanings of that statement and writing that off as all being “corporate image concerns” is insidious.

Agreed, the anti-mask shit was annoying, and it is ridiculous to compare being criticized for your political views to violent pogroms. But it’s just run of the mill dumb conservative shit. It does more harm than good to get people fired over piddling speech offenses. These people love to play the victim, and this just gives them ammo. She was the victim in this instance.

My problem with muscular women is the lifestyle. I don’t go to the gym. I don’t want to be with someone who has such a strict routine in their life. I want someone to help me kill a pint of Ben and Jerry’s while watching Schitts Creek, then go at it until 2am.

Every time I see a video of a jacked woman showing off, and like most of the dudes standing around are frowning… there is always at least one dude. Sometimes two. Who are literally falling so hard with a look of absolute everything across their faces.

Love at first chin up does exist.

😎👍 Losing weight to gain the confidence to ask a muscle mommy if she’d kindly provide uppies.

real muscle mommies don’t judge and give uppies when uppies are earned.

they also don’t compare themselves to persecuted Jews during Nazi rule when asked to take a shot and wear a mask.
