Gimme the parasite that makes me irresistible to everyone! 🥺
Ok so i presume they controlled for this but given
sexually transmitted parasites, such as T. gondii
and the more attractive people had a
higher number of sexual partners
Weren’t they more likely to get it anyway? Especially if they self-select amongst the similarly attractive sexual partners?
I knew it was going to be Toxoplasma gondii.
Did the parasite also give humankind the ability to speak languages?
That’s the plot of a lower decks episode
spoiler
This guy gets Boimler a girlfriend
It’s also the plot of a Futurama episode

These guys made Fry attractive to Leela
Good try RFK’s brainworm.
I mean I thought Baldurs Gate 3 was excellent too.
Praise the Absolute.

Camaro envy
Welcome… to Night Vale.
I am experiencing reverse effluviums and an aversion to revision. What are my chances?
Moonwalking sounds like a feature, not a bug.
Camaro envy? Nope. Nothing is worth that.
Okay, for moonwalking you should talk to your agent/promoter. For Camaro envy, even your therapist doesn’t want to hear about that.
Is there a cat free version? Or maybe just reduced cats? The rest is fine.
I’m thinking of doing a startup that processes used kitty litter. I think our end result needs some more work but looks promising
“It is possible that the apparently non-pathological and potentially beneficial interactions between T. gondii and some of its intermediate hosts, such as rats and humans, are the result of co-evolutionary strategies that benefit, or at least do not harm, the fitness of both the parasite and the host,” the researchers write.
I’m looking forward to reports of infection parties.
Resident Evil 4 confirmed
Resident CUTIE
Isnt it 7?
Or is 7
Spoilers ahead
The CIA Experiment?
Always kinda thought about it that way, since its 7 and 8 when they were going all in on body horror via the hands, and I distinctally remember a very heavy focus on maggots and other parasites
Spoilers for RE 4, 7, and 8.
Tap for spoiler
Resident Evil 4 is the brain worm thingy parasite while 7 and 8 is parasitic mold.
So it may actually be a mind-altering symbiote?
Scientifically it’s called mutualism, and it happens all the time in nature, including in humans. The bacteria in your gut require you to live, and for you to live requires having those bacteria in your gut. And the bacteria in your gut effect your mind, including the decisions you make

effectaffectSorry, I appreciate your post.
Thanks for the info but I purposely only ever use effect. The difference conveys no additional information, and it’s already close to an archaic usage
“Affect” is nowhere close to an archaic usage, if that’s what you mean. But of course you are welcome to spell it however you like.
Oh, interesting, I thought that was the definition of symbiosis!
(Also, don’t forget to escape the parenthesis in your Wikipedia link.)
You were very close, mutualism is a type of symbiosis.
When i click on my links they all seem to work. Maybe my lemmy instance autocorrects it?
guess its time for me to drink some pond water
is it really a parasite if you dont really lose anything and get something positive from it?
Parasites need their host to live. I don’t think the impact to the host is considered by the definition.
Parasite does mean it causes some form of harm to the host. That’s what makes it parasitism vs mutualism
But that harm can be very mild.
It’s a fact that old cat people become more beautiful with age
I swear to satan I saw an amazon trailer for something like this.
Are you thinking of Beauty?
yes. I think that is it.
Actually a decent show, I’m enjoying it.
